New USA-Made Tekton Pliers!

I am almost certain that these are made for Tekton by Wilde. In any case, they're pretty decent, not to mention reasonably priced.

Tekton has said they're trying to offer better tools that they could be proud of, and this is a great way to convince me!

I can ask, but I think it's going to be on a case by case basis.

For example, their branded and private label air hoses are made in the USA and are darned good.

They don't produce tools themselves, they sort of source out the best OEMs for the tools they want to offer and change up the specs to suit their engineers' needs and wants.

I've got a set of the Tekton China made metric angle wrenches. One of the wrenches was warped looking brand new out of the box. Sent Tekton a pic and a few days later a new wrench was at my door step. The wrenches have held up well.

I didn't see that. I only realized they were made in the USA when the test samples showed up and I read the labeling.

The pliers look good I will see if Bargan Supply in Louisville has them next time I go there. I get some tekton stuff there. If they get more USA built tools I will be GLAD to support them.

Ordered a set of the 10" slip joints yesterday, we'll see how decent they are when they come in, I doubt there will be any issues. I believe my Armstrong pliers that I use at work are Wilde's, been using them daily for six years without much issues other than I broke the tip of my dykes off, touched them up on the grinder and back to work!

Worth a look.

Wilde's bread and butter is actually re-branding and making tools for other people or large scale govt. contracts. While they offer their own brand marked tools direct for sale, they are priced high MSRP to not compete on scale with their re-branding contract tool customers.

Wilde stuff can be fairly bare bones but it's well made.

Price is usually decent on this stuff. I suppose the "tekton" branding helps take care of any warranty issues (easier to replace). Probably won't have them with pliers though (unless we're talking 20 years down the line). Should a 15 dollar pair of pliers have more than a 2 year warranty? Eh...no. I assume the tekton warranty is lifetime, don't know though.

The reason I say that is that a lot of people don't take care of their stuff, why is a company responsible for people's hang ups.

I'll always go with tekton for my cheap tools. Their customer service kills hf and a lot of the bigger name brands. Getting affordable USA made tools says that they are paying attention to their more informed customers and not just the blind buying masses who probably spend much more money with them than those of us who choose to spend free time on a forum about tools lol.

This was nice to see. WILDE lost some business with craftsman (pry bars and such). I believe the market for moderately priced Usa tools still is out there, but the products are not keeping up with demand.

We are always looking to offer more USA tools when we can. It isn't always possible, but when we can we do.

We have a lifetime warranty. The price doesn't effect the End-User treatment you'll get. You can always either write me here, or e-mail me at work.

I have two pairs of the NAPA branded Wilde 10'' slip-joint pliers. I got them for $7 a piece when they were closing out all their NAPA branded tools. They are very nice pliers. The handles have a nice shape to them that are very similar to linesman pliers.

Where I think Wilde pliers really shine is with their "Flush-Fastener" style slip joint pliers so I wonder why Tekton had them make they standard variety? Could it be that Wilde keeps that one for themselves?

The Flush-fastener style will requite additional machine work and a special fastener - both of which would increase cost. Either Wilde wanted to keep it in-house or Tekton didn't want to inflate the price.

Tektons this afternoon. They are labelled as US made. I will post my impressions after they have been in use for a bit.

Yup.That's where I found them. Our local Meijer seems to carry a lot of Tekton.

I carry a pair of Channellock 424s in my pocket all the time. I love my Channellocks but I daresay the Tektons are nicer. I like the thicker vinyl grips too.
