I find it intriguing that Bunnings can sell it for a good price (when compared to buying from Germany). Whereas Masters have rip off prices for Stahlwille and Knipex (when compared to buying from Germany).

Yeah Masters prices are not that good, But i imagine Bunnings Screwed the local distributor into dirt cheap prices or is either brining them directly in gigantic quantities. As far as im aware Masters wont have the same buying power as Bunnings and I heard rumours they are in a joint venture with an american outfit, perhaps they bring the tools from usa? I noticed they carry some Klein tools, they are more ridiculously priced then the german tools there!

Im pretty sure the distributor for stahlwille is White International.

Im pretty sure the distributor for stahlwille is White International , they always charge an arm and a leg! I guess they aren't doing any favours for Masters in terms of buy price

Thanks for the insight.

BTW here's an example:

Masters: Stahlwille 14/15 spanner set - $418, now on sale for only $300.
tbs-aachen: Stahlwille 14/15 spanner set - $200 delivered (minus 20% VAT on checkout).

That's more than 100% mark up

What do you expect from Woolies!! your right they are thieving us but where else can you buy Stahlwille off the shelf in Perth, i think they are catering to that desperate kind of customer.

I have had the Minimax sets for over 30 years and are still going strong. They are not as ergonomically designed as todays offerings, but do the job for me..

1/2 cup have you ever come across this tool maker?

And thanks for the info on minimax, i guess you cant ask more than 30 years from a set of tools, thats well and truly superseding "lifetime warranty" quality.

BEAUTIFUL set up. I love the tool box and you have organized the tools well. are those snappy wrenches

Thanks..
Got a range of stuff really..
snap on, britool, matco, crossman USA, craftsman, sdchrome, gearwrench for the spanners and mostly snap on and blue point for the sockets. Got a set of sidchrome deep 1/4 sockets which im not that keen on so im on the hunt for a snappy set.

Just got some nepros stuff from japan which is worth a go. Shipping is as per US prices nepros.net from memory.. the website is a bit crappy looking but their stuff is top class..

I found it so intriguing ... that I emailed NWS in Germany.

... Seems that the items Bunnings are selling .... are ridgydidge.

They have had the plier sets for a while, screwdriver set is a bit more recent ... Hope they expand the range to include the ergo combi items.

"b) i clean all my tools before putting them back, we have a climate here that induces rust in everything, even stainless steel tools will rust out. Putting them back wet or dirty will usually develop into rust within a few weeks."

Jedigazza, is there anything you put on your tools to keep the rust away? I find this a constant problem for any tools that aren't doing greasy work (such as woodworking tools).

I love the blue Stanley Posidrivs.

I use them for working on my car, rennovating my house and doing a lot of electronic work. Im sorry that my tools disappoint you. I dont find any of my tools "****" and what I pay for them is my business. If you dont have something nice to say dont say it.

Some good tools in your collection ..

... makes my adhoc little lot, look very inferior ..

I wouldnt get too defensive about the, non aussie, Stanley screwdrivers tho,

I have a few that I bought to replace lost, broken and abused ones - from my old, aussie made set ... and I can confidently say .... the new ones are "****" ... by comparison. ;);)

Hi Dr no. Certain things that i an get a away with a light coat of HTB grease on, otherwise i spray them with silicone grease. i used to put Vaseline on but its extremely messy and i tried WD40 but it evaporates off very fast

i have never seen the blue posidrives anywhere else, i picked them up ata salvage yard about 15 years ago ;)

Hi mate, im not defensive about the non aussie stanley screw drivers, they arent very good and the tips are very soft, i was given them as a present , i mostly use my wiha collection hat i keep handy inside the house.

what i am defensive about is people insinuating that i dont even use my tools, and that the majority of my tools are ****.

The comment that that person made was rude and annoyed me, but i can admit that there are certain things i own that are well below par ;) such as those screw drivers. :lol_hitti

Great collection!

I have the red shears, which I have seen under a few different brands. Does anyone know who actually makes them? Erdi or someone else?

good question, i always assumed they were made by erdi, but it does not say erdi on the blade!

The only Australian made tools I have are a Sidchrome spanner (best spanner ever), Sidchrome screwdriver and a Stanley screwdriver.

The rest are imports i.e. Kincrome/supatool (great Aussie brand but they only import and re-label), Repco/Mechpro/GV tools.

Near impossible to find Aussie made tools. I think for the 3 I have, I paid about 50c a piece and old Sidcrome stuff reaches a high price, even at the markets.

I think Erdi is owned by Bessey. I have Bessey tin snips and there's an Erdi logo on the tool (besides Bessey's), pictured here.

Let us know what NWS says. I'm surprised that you sent them an email, do you work in a tool shop or tool distributor by any chance?

I knew Masters carried a lot of outrageously priced German tools but only noticed Bunnings carrying NWS recently while researching online for NWS dealers. Ironically Bunnings is only 5 minutes away from me and I visit them almost weekly but I always bypassed the tool shop because there was nothing worthwhile there, I'm now paying attention.

what i am defensive about is people insinuating that i dont even use my tools, and that the majority of my tools are ****.

Just ignore the idiot. His collection is mostly Chinese tools, that's why he's jealous...haha.

Finally someone from the eastern states with pictures, for a while I thought this thread was about West Aussies ;)

Very nice tool collection there mate, they're heirloom quality. I hope my son will be proud to inherit my tools too.
