SK Customer service

Well, I had to send SK an email today. Had to call the customer service line concerning a locked up 42475.

Never having done so before I was fully expecting an endless set of prompts and hours waiting for a human being. I hit one prompt for the cust. service dept and instantly a woman introduced herself and asked how she could help. I was actually momentarily speechless. I just wasn't expecting someone that quick.

All said and done I have a free rebuild kit on its way to the house and the longest part of the ordeal was giving and verify my address. Best customer service I've dealt with in ages. On the way home from work I decided to go ahead and write them an email letting them know how much I appreciated it.

It seems I'm doomed to have to call a service hotline for damn near everything I buy. Old lady thinks its hilarious, I find it incredibly annoying. It seems to me that customer service is a joke nowadays even at reputable companies. It was great to be surprised with a great and quick experience. It made me hold the already much liked brand in a little higher regard.

Also had great experiences with their customer service. Then again, the items I have sent in have been for legitimate reason, not a ratchet that was used as a hammer (like one member sent in, and then complained when they sent him a new ratchet and a booklet about what kind of tools they normally don't accept for warranty returns).

I'm from Canada. Called SK in the US about a ratchet rebuild kit, just left a voicemail but 10 days later the kit was delivered.

I hear ya, I very briefly succumbed to the truck. Was pretty convenient I will admit. Yeah the tools are great but personally I'd rather drop a rung or 2 down the ladder and get something probably just as good for a way more reasonable price.

That's pretty funny. Using a rhft as a hammer? Everyone knows you only use pearheads as hammers.

Huh...I never thought about that. That would be pretty sweet. Personally I use a good ole US General from HF. The smaller 26 is all I needed. For a HF product I love that box. I had it in a service van for bit. Use to sit on the closed top section all the time. Some of those boxes are pure garbage. Worse then the stack on or stanley nonsense at wally world. The pro ones though, the 26, 44, and 56 boxes are great. Brother has the 44 top and bottom and he loves it. Was all set to sell my soul to the truck on a service cart and decided to get that at the last minute. Much happier I did. Allowed me to get more tools in the end.

There are alot of products I would like to see from SK. One would be a 36" 3/4 breaker bar another would be a good box like a 56" x 30".

Best customer service I've dealt with in ages. On the way home from work I decided to go ahead and write them an email letting them know how much I appreciated it.

They posted maybe a year ago that they were going to. Even had some promotional pictures of black boxes with green pulls. I haven't seen anything since...

They used to. I think that Waterloo, among others, made them. I don't see that there's much markup possible on toolboxes, except for the tool truck swindlers.

SK is a great company. They are winning back the market share they lost during the transition years. If I had an SK truck I would have less Snap On stuff. SK doesn't have the broad line like SO, but their hard line stuff is equivalent. When you use the stuff everyday, truck access is important.

They sent me that banner so I can take some pics of a car in front of it and send it to them. I will be doing that very soon and will post the pics here.

Now that Craftsman is Chinese, I have turned to SK for my ratchet and socket needs. My favorite ratchet, the SK 45875 (3/8" flex head with bent handle) seems to be able to get to any bolt, no matter how deeply recessed in the engine bay. Unfortunately I don't think they make this ratchet anymore. I hope I don't lose it!

I had used SK every day for about 9 years in the army and never really appreciated them. Of course back then I didn't know near as much about tools and manufacturers as I do now. Largely thanks to this site. It took going back to being civilian, having to supply my own tools, and realiing that sometime in that 9 years good old USA made plenty good enough cman had turned to slightly higher then garbage. I'm a big fan of wright also but I'd really like to get my hands back on the the SK stuff is gotten so used too. Cool thing is I'm still in a military town so there's tons of it in the pawn shops.
