In Oglethorpe, GA, there is a 120' x 80' former peanut warehouse ready for you to dismantle and repurpose. Oglethorpe is southwest of Macon. The building was constructed sometime between 1937 and 1948. The roof is in great condition, so there is no rotten wood. The warehouse was used for peanut storage just last year.

There are 8x8" beams, and boards 3.5x8.5", 2x10", and 8x1". Some of these are up to 20 feet long.

I worked with an older gent years ago, and he tore down old barns for the metal roofing and dimensional lumber. He did this by himself until he retired from the factory. He was a recovering alcoholic, and this is what he did to keep himself out of trouble. He made some good money doing it, as the farmers would give him the barn, and he could sell what he wanted, and they would burn what was left. He'd had a few accidents, but nothing that kept him from coming to work.

I am looking at a 100x75'4 story barn in Maine and first pros that have walked the space with me and even attempted a guess at any type of reuse cost started at $250k to 500 and this thing is in great shape. Just meant back in 1912 and the next 100 years to hols hay and livestock and not humans

I have not given up yet but my wide eye amazement of what I had found is starting to focus into just how much work these massive structures can turn into

Ha! I saw this Craigslist ad as well. I showed it to my spouse and indicated that this might be an alternative to my shop-building-design-in-progress.

No the real problem with life: When you're young enough to do stuff like this, you don't have the money and when you're old and can still do stuff like this you STILL don't have the money!!! Still tearin stuff down and putin it back up after 63 years.....

If it wasn't for the cross country shipping (and hiring a crew there to do the work) I'd jump on it... problem is it would take a lot to mark everything and pull it apart right so it could be reassembled out here. What one heck of a shop that thing would make, tho...
