Thought I would throw this out there for the handy guys on the forum.
What I have is an attached single garage (flat roof continuous with the rest of the house) where the PO sawed out the back side, so it has been turned into a carport. (Reason for so doing was the house faced the wrong way for the new street that the house was required to join, so the old private driveway was lost.)
I have done the preliminary work of framing out the openings to match and have purchased a matched pair of 10x8 garage doors. I realize that I will need to use the jackshaft style openers (Liftmaster 3800s) so I have wiring pulled for those...
The doors I picked up used came with conventional openers and track--but I have realized that I have a shallow ceiling problem as well.
Can I convert or add onto the track sets I have, or do I need to purchase a full set of new shallow opening track?
Any suggestions where you can purchase DIY garage door supplies?
Procedure???
(I'm thinking of setting a shared end piece out of some heavy perforated angle I salvaged from the original single door and using one per side to anchor front and back doors to....)
