I'm just wondering if the shipping total that they quote you in the checkout includes duty/import fees or will there be charges on delivery?
Thanks
Thanks
Shipping charges are usually just that.....cost to move it from point A to point B. What happens at the border is beyond the shipper's control.
If shipped via USPS/Cda Post and the item's value is under $50 it usually comes directly to your door no questions asked. Over that, there might be a duty charge, along with a $5 Cda Post "nuisance fee" added. That is the way it has worked for me in the past.
Using UPS is a different matter. Only got stung by them once, a long time ago, when they added a $30 "brokerage fee" to a $20 item.
It seems every Canadian has used UPS once and only once to ship stuff across the border. And all will never use it a second time and for the same reason. Mine was a $50 brokerage fee on a $70 shipment.

...
Other methods may be acceptable/preferable for the US, but USPS is pretty much the only way that will make small orders (anyway) feasible to Canada.
UPS is a criminal organization specializing in shakedown "fees" and other forms of extortion when operating in Canada and I would VERY STRONGLY advise against any Canadian ever using their ****** "service".![]()
LOL@ UPS. My wife ordered a $40 item and the seller used UPS after she asked them not to only because it was a dollar cheaper for the seller. The dude came to the door and embarrassingly presented her with a $112 bill for brokerage, duties, etc. Needless to say it got refused and returned to sender. Delivery guy chuckled and said that's what he would have done as well.
Epsteins uses USPS flat rate boxes IIRC.
UPS is excellent and usually much more popular than postal service in the U.S (at least the lower 48),
What does warmpancakes use? He must have a cheap system figured out.

yep he makes the most efficient use of space in a USPS flat rate box that I've ever witnessed. I figure he either did a lot of puzzles or played a lot of Tetris as a kid![]()

I have said it before (many times) and I'll say it again:
DO NOT USE UPS FOR SHIPPING TO CANADA!!! EVER!!!
Where were you with this advice back in the early '90s when I learned my lesson?
