My dad gave me a 6 pc set of Proto Professional 1/4 drive Torx bit sockets, but the ends are all pretty well trashed. Where can I buy the replacement tips? Proto's website didn't show them, at least that I could see.

I'd contact Proto and ask. You might get them warrantied. Worst that can happen is they don't have them anymore. I'm curious to know if they replace them, because I have a 3/8" drive set. Mine are good, but might break one some day.

I will vouch for Apex. They are top notch bits. I got a few from HJE (watch the hex size) and Travers.

I don't think the two piece sets are serviceable (might be wrong). Proto should still warranty them unless they have another solution for you (i.e. they are serviceable).

It's just that if they were (easily) removable there probably wouldn't be any reason to have a complete set vs. a bit socket with the necessary bits. I'm not saying "You can't get them out man!" but it might take some effort. Heat gun, a punch, and a hammer would probably get it out.

Bit wise for torx there's a ton of good bits you can pick up anywhere. Most are chinese. I see some "gold" ones (?), maybe go with those...I think they are makita. Not sure if they sell torx bits though. I hate bosch in general but I like their titanium coated stuff, might be an option if it's cheap enough.
