I see you are in the SF Bay area. Last I checked, there were 4 (plus display) at the Dublin store and 2 (plus display) at the Freemont store. At least that's how many I left them with. Didn't check the Livermore store.

I went to the South San Francisco store, the San Bruno store and the Sunnyvale store ... nada .. zip .. :(

Well, and friend and I went and got 14 yesterday. There was one or two Lowes that still had them at $118...

I skimmed through a lot of this, but does anyone have any idea why they went on clearance? I wonder if the tall lockers or the floor cabinets will......?

FWIW, the Lowes corporate HQ is located in Mooresville, NC. That about 25 miles from me. I was at a Mooresville store this morning and picked up 6 for myself.

Should I go by their corp office and ask them why some of their stores did not honor the 29.50 price?

Maybe I can get the inside scoop on when the other Gladiator products are going to be discounted....and get the jump on you guys first...LOL

Lowe's Corporate is in N. Wilkesboro....but not too far from Mooresville.

The way I understand it, Corporate sends out pricing to stores in cycles- at least when it comes to Clearance items. I think they have a certain time window in which they are supposed to update the prices on their clearance items. So, some stores will have clearance items at one price, but others will be a little behind (or ahead) of them.

I've run into this several times recently with Lowe's clearance deals- often when I go back to check on stuff at stores that haven't posted the clearance price on something, the items are gone with no sign of them ever being there. A corporate black hole perhaps??? Or someone with better luck than me who snags them when they hit 75% off (or more).........

well i also ran into the $59 price at my store.. manager wouldnt negotiate or budge about the other stores in the area that were sold out at 29. guess that's why they still have 15 in stock. i bought 2 for my dad, but since i already have some cabinets i decided that even at half off it wasn't worth getting any. now i have to keep an eye out for the other stuff to go 75% off!

Too bad I missed out on this one.
I haven't read the whole thread so if this was already stated..sorry - I asked about buying the display and was told they could not because Lowes does not own it, the vendor does. If it has a small blue sticker on it that says Lowes Display, it is not owned by the store.

Lowe's corporate IS in Mooresville. My Sister-in-law works there.

Did you ask at the Sunnyvale store. I know the computer is not accurate but after I bought 4 on Sunday night, apparently there were 13 left.

My store went from $29 to $59. So Im pretty sure any stores still selling them for $29, wont be doing so for long.
i.e. $59 is the new clearence price.

I still think they will have trouble clearencing them for that..I can build quite a few cabinets for $60.
Im still going to call the stores every couple days to see if it gets marked back down.

Didn't see any Austinites posting about their 'hauls' so I checked the Lakeline(620@183) store...had at least two unopened BUT tag showed the $59 price...didn't check to see if price was actually lower. I wish I had some clear wall space to take advantage of the deal.

I went back to the store after work yesterday where the one manager promised me that she would sell them to me for $29 with a receipt even though they were still marked full price.

At first I told the cashier at the customer service desk what I was there for and I saw my cabinets sitting off to the side in the cart I put them in at lunch with a hold sign on them. She asked what manager told me that she would honor the $29 price. She called that manager... she took a little while to come over.

Another manager asked what the cashier was doing and if he could help. She explained the situation to him. That manager said there was no way he could sell them at that price... and wondered why the other store had... I kept it cool although I was getting upset.

He starts to tell me what he can sell them for and the first manager shows up that told me she could do it in the first place. He starts arguing with her. She explained to him that she called another store and that they were going to honor the price. Even though the store she stated was not the store my receipt was from I let it slide and quickly paid and got them to my car ASAP. For fear someone may change their mind.

It was a close call but I got 5 total which should work out well.

I don’t know if I would want to be the guys with 15-26 of these things.. putting them together is a bit of a chore. After 3 I have my technique down just kinda bored with putting them together.

I just bought three of these, but assembling the first one surprised me at how long it took. Kind of like the old time erector sets with more blind nooks to get nuts on.

Here are a few tips that most of you are probably already doing. Sorry if I'm being Mr. Obvious, but here goes.

First, you are using your cordless drill to fasten the phillips screws, right? Secondly, I found using the supplied hex wrench awfully slow. I sacrificed one by taking it to the shop and trying to hacksaw about 1 1/2" off the long side. That was slow cutting, so after get a good nick in one side, I tightened up the vice and gave the hex a good wack with a ball pein hammer. It broke off cleanly (good steel!). I wasn't wearing goggles, but should have been.

Now you can chuck the piece of hex in your drill and spin merrily away. It takes a lot of the tedium out of the assembly process, especially if you have 10-20 to put up.

Don't know why anyone would have posted this on SD....

Anyone have a scan of their receipt that I could take with me? My wife went by Lowes yesterday and talked to management and they said they couldn't come down from the $118 price.

I had to drive to every store in my county, all 3, and finally found 3 cabinets at the last store. None of the stores would sell the display. :(
I asked about other Gladiator products going on clearance & was told that they are just discontinuing the one line.

Add 3 more to the GJ total!

was just in my local lowe's, orangeburg, NY, they had a bunch of these cabinets, now at the $59 price, but the display model on the wall still said $29, worth a fight and a drive if you are nearby.

at least 6 or so on display, I had cleared all 3 that I needed on sunday, and there were none left at the time, they could have dozens in the back.

go grab 'em.

Wait, that wasn't the new Lowes west of Ocala was it? Shoot.

Nevermind my request for a scanned receipt then.

You guys ROCK!!!

I'm in Louisiana and thanks to y'all, I just found and BOUGHT four of them at $24.72 each, two each at two different stores. I paid by telephone with a CC, and a friend picked them up.

Here's how I found them, and you can too:

1. Go to www.lowes.com
2. Type in the item # which is 29844
3. Type in a city to search (My Store / Find Another Store)
4. Surf all the stores around your locale!

NGuys, there are QUITE a few left in Louisiana at $49 each. There are 11 in the Hammond, La. store (tel. 985.345.5666) and 10 left in the Gonzales, La. store (tel. 225.644.0900). Other stores in La. only marked them down to $98.

Here's the best part: One store where I bought two of them told me later that one hour later, they went back to being a stocked item at $49 each! We must have increased their demand just like that!

HAPPY HUNTING!!!

Marty,

We all tried that, and most of us received "this product not carried at this store" messages, when in fact they were in stock at those locations.

That's what it would show when I checked all of the Lowe's in my area. Not believing that, I took a ride out, and picked up 6

I got 4 today (last 4 in the North Wilmington store).

Stinks that 3 other stores within 15 miles have plenty, but are still at $118.00

I'm going to keep trying though, I like the idea of getting FOUR for the price of ONE (literally, no sales tax in Delaware).

I was clicking around on all the lowes stores in TX on the website. I saw prices anywhere from $49 to $89 to $118. My local store now has them marked at $59, and of course they don't show up on website.

There's no rhyme or reason I guess. It's like a cabinet lottery!

So is Marty P's purchase the best deal so far? $24.72?

I did the search thing on Lowes website around my zip and all say not sold in that particular store. As a matter of fact it shows all of the Garageworks cabinets but say not sold in that particular store. It's pretty funny, because the store that the items are not sold in are stocked with all different Garageworks items.

I went out saturday morning all prepared to drive around all day to try to get a dozen or so from all the local stores. But the first lowes I went to had 26.. They were spread across the upper shelves of 5 aisles.

Uhh, I started putting one together last night and these do take a while. I does look like my plan will work for modifiying these things and I calculated that I would need at least 5 more to do what I wanted.

I went to two more lowe's today and scored 8 more total. They both also said the display model cannot be sold. But obviously some of you guys have had better luck with that. Both places had them marked at $59 on clearance. I showed my $29 reciept from the other day to the manager's and both of them matched price with no question.

One of the guys that got them off the top shelf for me said that the price was $29.50 the other day and that he had changed the tag to the $59 pricing yesterday himself, but did not now anything about how prices are set or why it changed.

So make it 34 for now. Still not a huge fan of the diamond plate doors. And he cabinets are a little flimsy, but once multiple units get bolted together they should be good. And the powder coating seems pretty durable so far..

I am tempted to see if I could find more than the one I bought, but I don't need more. Ah well, the temptations of a great deal will pass... right?

Also, there's a $10 off $50 coupon now available, and I also recieved a Lowes project card in the mail.

I was in another lowes eairlier looking about 15 miles from this one and they had them for $59, but I didnt see any in stock. I am gunna hold out and see if I cannot find one for 29. I just need one but at 29 I will get a couple.

I found two in the K.C. Mo. area. They were priced at $59. But I talked to the manager and he bumped them down to $29.50 ea. The store in Independence MO. has 14 but they are still $118. And they won't price match any other stores price. I guess several have tried. The customer service gal shot me down before I could even ask.

That is 79 feet of cabinets :wtf: I want to see pics when these are mounted  I put 6 together the other day and was pretty much hatin' that. I have another dozen to put together. I know at 34 I'd be really sick of seeing the cabinets. :lol_hitti

I went in Sunday and checked the price, went to grab a cart, picked up a propane heater that was 50% off, and got back to the stack to have a group of guys trying to talk their wives into letting them get some. Eventually they moved so that I could grab the last 2. This was the new lowes off of vivion road in kc.

For $119, I would expect a little better fit, but they are great for $30!!
