That clear Rockwell is off the chain!! I saw a special or an advertisement somewhere about the clear drill by Rockwell, I'll see if I can look it up later.

We hit like 10 sales this morning, maybe not 10 but close to it and seemed like dollar day at places I did score.

AB switches and machine lights, he wanted $1 each but I bought the bucket full for $4.
01399.jpg

$1 for the box of misc, containing a Ridgid tube bender, $1 box on the right with the cool GM Co. hammer, a die and clasp, $1 for the miniature Eagle gas can, and he wanted $1 each for the motion sensors in the cardboard box but accepted $5 for all and had a funny story to go along with them. He used to work for the sheriff dept and said that these were once installed in the judges chamber but every time they got still for 5 mins, the lights would go off :lol_hitti
01400.jpg

Another stop yielded the post hole digger and two posts for $1 ea, plus a big *** stainless microwave for the new home(not shown) for $10.
01401.jpg

After that, we hit the monthly auction where I picked up a cool vintage double seat chair(pics next week when I pick up) and got outbid on a 14.5-16" southbend and a 16ga brake, along with a few other things I had my eye on...anyway, we stopped by the pawn shop on the way back where I picked up the ratcheting Armstrong adapter and Craftsman extension for.....you guessed it, a buck apiece. :D

Its aluminum if that means anything. If its something hard to find for a project car I'll sell it. I was going to just hang it on the wall.

Here are some pics after I rinsed all the caked on mud and gime off.

Dave - That is the coolest hand drill I've ever seen !

Well - after sitting for my sister's rugrat, I ran out to one of the sales I missed this morning. It was a shadetree mechanic's home shop that the family was clearing out. Most was gone or marked as sold by the time I got there. Tire machine - sold, floor jacks - sold, MBC toolbox with 2 side shelves - sold, air compressor - sold. Are you noticing a trend ? Most of the wrenches that were left were broken or customized with a grinder.

After digging through the dirt and grease, I found a few things to take home.

All for $5.
2 - 18" hammer handles
a 12' hammer handle
Rockwell (Pittsburgh) #14G-810 Model F die grinder w/ 5' lead (needs cleaning and/or rebuild to work)
Snap-On SSD44 sq. shank screwdriver
Snap-On SSD4 rnd. shank screwdriver
a box of 1/4-20 wide head screws w/nuts
Palm-Grip (Kipton Industries) 3/8"dr 24-tooth palm ratchet

While typing this post, my sister just asked if I would babysit tonight while she and the BIL go out to a movie. HELL NO ! NOT AFTER THE SALE YOU MADE ME MISS THIS MORNING !!!!!!!!!!!!

Great scores guys!

Mine will take a few posts: heck the first stop will take a post by itself! :bounce:

The guy was getting ready to move and had a ton of tools but mist was HF or similar, then I fins a 1/4" drive craftsman triwing in a box then realize what the box is mostly full of... Clecos! A ****** rack of them plus loose ones.

I ask how much for the whole box (its 7:30 am mind you...) $5! "But wait where is that grey box?" he started hustling around and asking his "helper" about it; he finally comes back adn drops an even bigger box on the concrete. I open it and there are MORE Clecos, and a lot of other stuff.

"$5 for all! do you work on planes?" "Nope, but I do a lot of metal work"

I manage to not wrench my shoulder getting the $5 out an in his hand...

I still haven't sorted through the whole of both boxes: here are the layers - First box:

Second box:

Top tray:

Second tray:

attachment.php

The other cleco tray, I'd estimate around 150 Clecos total between both boxes, different sizes and some/most adjustable for length.

attachment.php

Under the Cleco tray, lots of specialized metal probably for forming metal.

The rest of the day was normalcy mostly.. ;)

From the Collage FM:

A low Alum Dutch oven a Willliams heavy clamp and not shown, a VERY old small photo album with some old photo's for SWMBO. - $4

attachment.php

Some old Army canvas and a Long C Craftsman 1/2" drive Speeder $7

attachment.php

A Flask Craftsman Crown metal router box, 3/8 RHFT, 2 SK and 1 Thorsen soc and a tiny Token. this buy was funny, I collected this, and asked "How much?" And it was "$3" Cool! - Then another guy says hey; you got my stuff there!"

I'm thinking it's someone claiming he bought the stuff. After some confusing back and forth it turned out I had some stuff from one "booth" and the one large SK Socket from the other guy's booth!

He wanted a buck for the socket, which was fine, the other gut wants $5 for the rest... "I liked his price better, which got chuckles all around, but I gave him his fiver, since the confusion was partly my fault, (but Dudes, make some definition between your spaces...)

attachment.php

Router box open, some router, I use the bolt on bits a lot so I'll probably over fill this puppy.

attachment.php

That token: Its from the Onterio Dept of Highways. for a "Class 1 Vehicle" so I'm assuming this is for a toll road? :dunno:

attachment.php

Got to run an errand one more post to go!

And the rest of the Yard sales and one estate sale:

Large mechanics pry bar, Some wedges, Box of 30 Masks, Chevron swivel from one yard sale for $7 - There was something else but I've lost track or it's still in the car...; and the Vise for $3 right next door.

attachment.php

A 1918 Aluminum cap canteen and folding handle cup, a WWII case and a case from '51, and a 1943 M1 ammo belt - 20$ all - The belt alone was marked that, cases $3 each and inside, the canteen was another 8 and the cup another 3.

attachment.php

From a three day old Estate sale, some leavings.. I know there was a long handled Craftsman RHFT 1/2" ratchet there, but that was two days ago... :(

2 Proto Pickle forks,

attachment.php

A french made Monopod, Dasco 933 brick motor pointing tool, a metal wrench rack.

attachment.php

Proto 1/2" drive obstruction extension, Proto Driver, Bonney Torque or obstruction adapter, KD Nut splitter, Eklind Metric Allen set, hex drill chuck, Vim DBE Brake bleeder tool 8 X 10 mm.

Estate sale tab was $8. :D Gotta love last day discounts, even if the selection was not as good!

attachment.php

And the last yard sale, 2 steel shaft retractable fly rods, and one reel, $3:

I went to a local townwide sale and it was pretty much a bust - no tools worth buying.

I did stumble on this porcelain on steel Evinrude sign. I have a cat we named Evinrude because he walks around all the time purring like a motor boat.

I was going to buy a Hobby Lobby imitation a while ago but passed on it. I picked this up for $15. It's 9" x 16".

Cheers

Jim

I was "Curbside Shopping" today and found someones electrical work bench at the curb. I circled around it 3 or 4 times before I tossed it in the van. I don't REALLY need it and it's a bit ROUGH but it needed to be saved.

It's 30" W x 60" L x 30" H. It needs some replacement laminate for the top and a repaint. I has a soldering iron "holster" (for lack of a better definition), an air drop and a grounding plug front and center. There is a 12" shelf recessed in the footwell area (for equipment storage I guess).

Pic#1 shows it with some stuff I picked up today and am fixing on top of it.

Pic#2 shows the soldering iron holster.

Pic#3 shows the air drop and the ground plug.

Pic #4 shows why the laminate came off - poor glue pattern.

I don't see any manufacturer tags but it's worth TWICE what I paid for it - easily.

Cheers

Jim

No, Outlaw, no luck on the combo. I looked the code up in some old PDFs I have, but it's not listed. I know a few guys that can probably help me, but I will probably just hang it on the wall.

here are more pics of the 4" Blue Point crescent wrench I posted earlier. I have never seen one like this, AA says it is made by Diamond Tool & Horseshoe for Snap on.

BENDIX is engraved in one side (looks lasered or stamped not etched, hard to see bc of flash), other that and a few knicks, it looks new.

davethorik,

Nice score. I found one in a box I bought about a year ago. Was surprised to discover it actually paid for the entire box... Don't try to list it on ebay as a "Blue Point adjustable wrench by Snap-On Tools", though!

Rockwell (Pittsburgh) #14G-810 Model F die grinder w/ 5' lead (needs cleaning and/or rebuild to work)

After a little research, it seems that this die grinder was made by the Apex Group and sold under several names. Dotco, Cleco, Rockwell, to name the ones I've found so far.

And DAYEM !!!!!!!!!!!! The Dotco version sells for almost $500 !!!
http://www.airtooldirect.com/shop/dotco-14g-810-precision-grinder-50000-rpm-18-collet/

I can get mine to work by banging on it. I've cleaned it out, now I think I need to replace the O-ring. I hope it works, this could be the most expensive cheap hand tool in my box.

Found a small US-made sandblast cabinet today for $50...bought it for a friend who owns a powdercoat company and took it to his house. He gave me an extra $10 for dropping it off on my way to the shop. No pics, though.

Picked this up at a yard sale for $40 yesterday:

OK, mind saying why? The tool clearly states Blue Point on one side, and Snap on on the other... :dunno:

If it didn't say that I could see the issue.

Cool cart Racer, I had a double door version of that a while back!

Thanks. I'm gonna clean this one up and put a wood top on it. Double doors would be nice on this size cab...it's hard to reach the corners and back.

ALMOST FORGOT!!! Inside (way in the back corner) was an old purse with a bunch of OLD silverware in it. Like I said, it's hard to reach/see way back there. Guess the guy at the yard sale didn't crawl in the dirt to look and see if he got everything when he emptied it out.

This was recently covered in another thread, but basically I think there's an automated system where eBay flags and removes listings that have "Snap-On" along with another tool company's name. The intent is to prevent keyword spamming and the misuse of Snap-On's name. I'm sure this is done at Snap-On's request. Crescent is similarly protective.

Yes, it seems silly that listings would get removed when the wrench itself says both "Blue Point" and "Snap-On", but that's what makes me think it's automated. I sent an email when it happened to me, but never got a response. I relisted it without "Snap-On" in the title and sold it without issue.

OK I missed that thread. Thanks Flat. That almost makes sense, since those Mindless, politically correct automatons at Eprey can't seem to get anything right...

I thought it was interesting it said both Blue Point and Snap-On, and thanks for the heads up although I won't be selling it. I have been looking for a quality USA made 4" adjustable for a long time, they seem to be a lot harder to find than the 6", maybe it's just my area.

Actually, it's the rights owners that police ebay. "Freon" is made by DuPont, all others make "refrigerant" and DuPont will notify ebay as such about violations and the $hit rolls downhill. Usually ebay will inform the seller., though.

I found the kind of tag sale I like, older couple with older stuff priced to move. No baby clothes. The gentleman had a few tools, not much. Picked these up for $3.50:
1407e3a4-3d52-4e2e-9b20-b6f47cfcb488_zpse0a42dd5.jpg

Small, no name vise. Doesn't work well. That was free.
Omega micrometer
Starrett Caliper
Craftsman pocket stone
Sargent plier/cutter/cutter thingie. Umm, can someone tell me what it is/does?

He also had this:
c7804d4e-1613-44ce-8eed-2a2fa5dbd843_zps8ca435c5.jpg

He only wanted $50, but I just didn't have it, plus, I was on my bicycle, so I don't think I could strap it on the back.

I went home and thought about it. I really wanted it. So the next day, I scraped together $30 (Including a few bucks in quarters). It really was all I could spare right now. I went back, the saw was still there. I offered him the $30, and told him it really was all I had. He said no, and I turned to leave. He stopped me and say, "OK, I'll take it." He was a nice guy.

I came with the fence and mitre guage. It also has the original blade guard and splitter, but not the mounting bracket. I'll need to hunt one down. It also came with this motor:
photo4_zpsb1d4b4ac.jpg

It was wired for 220V. I rewired it for 110, added a cord and switch, and it fired right up.

I always thought these old saws were the equivalent of the current jobsite saws, somewhat portable. Boy was I wrong! Damn thing weighs a ton! I got it mounted on a stand (replacing my jobsite saw), but I can't easily move it around. I need to put it on a mobile base so I can push it against the wall when not in use!

It goes nice with my Cman 100 drill press I picked up a couple of weeks ago!

Cameron, that Sargent pliers thing is for cutting and crimping leather sewing machine belts. I got the same one in a treasure chest at a sale last week. Never seen one before then.

Only time for one yard sale stop this weekend but digging through the left overs in the tools area I managed to find these for a grand total of $3.
New packages of 3/16" toggle bolts and I've already used one of them to do a home repair The interesting goose neck with clamps on each end. Not sure what it came from but I'll make it useful on my workbench. A brand new hose band clamp. A 13/16" Thorsen wrench, a 3/16 x 1/4 Husky open end wrench and a 5/16" Craftsman -V- ignition wrench.

That's REALLY weird! I picked up one of those Sargent thingies today too, mine's not as nice as yours is, but once again, never seen it before, don't know what it does, and had to save it. Very odd it's twice in one day!

Got some more old tool gold at the flea market today. Beautiful day and yet the flea market, which this time of year is usually packed, was only 2/3 full and kinda empty. Weird - everyone must be out on the lake.

Here's the saves:

pic 1: all for $4
Snap-On KRA-40 small tool box in nice shape, with a handful of NRA rifle targets inside. Heckuva deal on that box, cheapest one I see on eBay right now is $60.

pic 2: only $1
Hot Rod-published book from 1971, Cams Valves and Exhaust Systems. Check out the articles - "Camming a Vega." Now that's hot rod gold, there!

pic 3: all for $8
Sargent sewing machine belt tool
socket, Walden-Worcester
Craftsman wrench, 1/4 inch combo
6-foot tape measure marked "Firestone"

pic 4: all for $3
pair of old wood rulers
Wiss scissors
Stanley handi-cut saw
Craftsman "grip-n-drive" screwdriver
3/16 punch, "made in USA" but no other markings
small 2" C-clamp made by Frazer & Jones (???)
brace bit, I always save these if they are cheap, come in handy drilling things on trail shelters on the AT (I do trail maintenance with a local hiking club once in a while) where power isn't available

It's Father's Day.

Male tool buyers and especially sellers were off doing family things today.

And that does not look like a punch, but a nail set. I have several and even bought one more today. They are used for counter-sinking finish nails. :)

Nice stuff guys! Cam, I have the same saw bolted side by side with their 50;' model. The saws are identical except for the sheet metal which got a "face lift"

I completely forgot to take pics of this piece from yesterday. Its a 12V Thomas airless compressor, Mod 405ADC38/12. I looked them up and its current production, looks to be in as new condition, and they retail for about $350!

I paid $3! :D I've connected a lighter jack to it and it works fine. Spec's say 100 PSI max and 100 PSI constant. about .8 CFM no load, and about 1/4 CFM Near full load. I'l add 3 rubber feet, and a Schrader valve clip, and see how it does for Portable tire inflation.

I hit an driveway estate sale this AM, that I apparently missed yesterday, adn it was like 4 blocks from my Hose! :wtf: No C-list ad I guess, I was of fina nother directions...

So I find this stuff, and a bamboo/wood, boat pole sans the handle (no pic) that will probably become a wall hanger.

They had the fairly std. line of clothes for sale hanging on the garage door, so not a lot of visibility, but the guy was digging more stuff out of the benches and boxes, and I managed to spy a vise on the bench at the far end. I ask the wife as he was on the phone if it's for sale: "Well, its bolted to the bench!" "It can unbolt..." ;) "Well, Lets ask him..."

She gets his attention and asks and he gets off the phone and says "Oh yes! The one on the bench, right?" How does $3 sound? :rocker:

And I hadn't even ID'ed the make yet! Starrett 323-1.2 3-1/2" jaws (no big surprise), missing the pipe jaws, but swivel base and 45 lbs! Not bad!

I'ts full service; he's taking charge of getting to off the bench, (looked like 1/4" pan head screws..) AND..

It get me into the garage an he's OK with me digging (subjec to his veto, but I'm fine with that! :bounce: So as near as I can tell, I'm the first one INSIDE the garage, yesterday's buyers made do with what was on the driveway!

This was the Swag:

2 Utica pliers, NN and specialty "duckbills" Crestalloy Dykes, 4" "Sheffield England" ignition pliers, Klien Spinner #2ph, 1/4" SK Rat & Socket, Ford wrench, Solder, 2" Adjustable Clamp, Barcalo Vlchek Armstrong DBEs, and a Duro Chrome DBE.

And the rusty stuff after a few min on the Fine wire wheel. I was surprised to see the SK ratchet was NOT chromed! so it cleaned up pretty nice. And yes the handle DOES have a slight bend to it; The working guts were chromed, so I'm guessing that may have been a replacement kit post bending event...
