24x32 garage..design stage

I am new to the site, seems like a great place for advice and suggestions.

I am planning a 24x32 garage/workshop. I am currently in the planning and design phase.

My first concern is the overall height of the structure. It will be detached form a single story ranch-style house. I don't want the height and size to look out of place in contrast to the house. I was wondering what pitch could I get away with for the roof to keep the height down. I live in the Boston area, I am not opposed to shoveling the roof if need be. I would like to keep the height under 14-16 feet .

Any suggestions or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

IMHO, it looks out of place if the garage pitch doesn't match the house pitch.

I am not opposed to shoveling the roof if need be.

What happens if you're out of town? Does the roof collapse?
