Well its no garagemajal but its mine. I would love to add on some day and I have enough room to put on an additional 1100 sq ft, but with the economy the way it is, that is a long way off.

So for now this will have to do.:)

Look great -- a little tight with two cars, but we all can't have a 30x40 space to wrench in -- I'm curous about thw white car as well. Looks like a "kit" of some sort.

Thanks Guys,

A special thanks to EvilEVO. Yes he is the correct one. It is a 1992 Vector W8 Twin Turbo. Car 15 of the 17 cars we built when Vector Aeromotive was alive and well as a corporation.

As for the 350 Z it is one of 1500 Nismo edition cars (car 0606 of the bunch), the body is factory stock. Built by Autech for Nissan (the same people who build the Super GT cars for Nissan) Here is a good video explaining what the car is. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Followup/articleId=121814

And yes I am the same Vectorw8015 from Ferrari Chat.

Mega props on the Vector!!!!!!!

Like some of the other members, I had/have a poster of that car from the 80's.

I would love to see one in person!

Any chance you could post some interior pics?

What are the engines in those things? The intake looks quite similar to a GM TPI setup.

It is an all aluminum resleevable Rodeck Y-Block. 6 bolt splayed mains on the end caps, 4 bolt splayed caps in the center. It is 365 cu in. It is a dry sump block, no provision for an internal oil pump. Nothing Ford or GM about it. The TPI is from a company called FIRST and has 2" runners unlike the GM 1" runners. GM stole the design from FIRST back in the 80's. The runners are Extrude Honed. There is no provision for a distributor. The intake was designed for a GM HEI to be placed behind it. But at Vector we only wanted the intake for its enormous air flow capability. The engines were unique to the W8 and were very expensive to build.

The engines run at stoich at 14lbs of boost and put out just over 1200hp and over 900 lbft of torque. We then detuned the engines by running them at 8lbs of boost on 92 octane fuel. Each car was guaranteed to provide at least 625hp and 650 lb ft of torque at that boost level. Each car varies in its output as they typically put out more HP. My particular car runs 749hp and 725lbft of torque at 8lbs of boost. But 625 was the factory guarantee.

I have never seen any kind of intake design even similar to that of the GM TPI spider, so I was curious.

How did GM steal it? Via what channels?

GM found FIRST and was interested in their intake design for TPI. FIRST and GM were unable to come to an agreement, so GM Engineering copied it, on a smaller scale, I believe there was a law suit and FIRST was compensated for GM's use of their design.

That Vector is SICK!!! How reliable is it, and who does your service on it? Don't mean to be nosey, just never ran into anyone with a Vector.

I have cared for many of the W8's since we built them, I am one of 2 people that service the cars. I worked for Vector Aeromotive for many years. I purchased my car from its original owner 9 years ago.

As for how reliable the cars are, extremely. I have changed one battery in my car, Changed the belts just because of age, One crank sensor went bad and the air bag contact needed to be replaced, beyond that the car has not had any issues.

Compare that to any other supercar and I think you will agree for a 17 year old car she is extremely well built and reliable.

What did you pay for it from the original owner. Sheesh I remember seeing one of those at the LA Car Show in the late 80's. They were taking names for orders I guess. I put mine down just for the heck of it. I was only 18 at the time.

Wow, nice rare car you got there!

A few quotes from the web..

"The car originally sold at retail for up to $455,000 USD new (on today's used market they are available from $200,000 to well over $1 million depending on the condition of the car.)"

"The body was made largely of lightweight carbon fiber and kevlar, known for its strength, and lightness."

"The W8 had an estimated top speed of over 220 mph (354 km/h). However, in testing at the Bonneville Salt Flats, the W-2 reached 242 mph (389 km/h)"

"Vector intended to follow the W8 with the Vector WX-3 and Vector WX-3R, but series production never got off the ground."

Rodeck made and still makes plenty of engines(from what I was able to find) but all of them are based on GM, Ford or Chrysler designs with a better made reinforced block. I think this is why it resembles a GM, but it is still hard to tell without more detailed engine pictures, or without the exhaust shield off.

Nice cars! How often do you drive the W8?

Thank you!

Well I have owned the car for almost 10 years now, I purchased her from her original owner (I have maintained her all of her life from build through sale to my ownership) I put the first 250 miles on her during factory testing and verification, I purchased her with 529 miles on her back in 2000 and she currently has 652 original miles on her.

She is more of a preservation piece for me than a driver. I put a lot of miles on the preproduction cars and know what they are capable of. So I keep this one in factory original and fairly flawless condition and take her to a lot of car shows.

Great cars! And thank you for taking the time to share information and photos on the Vector. Those don't come by often.

I've seen you here on the forum and noticed the Vector, but I didn't think to research your old posts until today... Wow, you actually own a Vector. Very cool! I remember when Vector was trying to sell stock in the late 80's. The car was so incredible, I was tempted to buy some. Very nice. Take care of it.

add me onto the list of not actually searching to see if vectorw8015 actually HAD A vector in his possession.

Theres a lot of info on Vectors here:
http://www.luxury4play.com/supercars/84644-vector-w8.html

Before Vectorw8015 jumps on me I don't know how accurate it is... maybe he'll be kind enough to post on here and say what is true and what isn't.
