PLEASE help me find socket holders..

Just quite job and took all my tools out of my service truck and put them back into my tool box. DEFFINATLY need a bigger box but for now I need to get some stuff out of the plastic trays to make room. I really like the mechanics time savers twist lock. That is basically what I want. Nice, we'll built, twist lock! But I refuse to split my sets up and I can't find we're they make bigger ones. I need:

Holders that holds 19 1/2" sockets 16 3/8" sockets 12 3/8" sockets 10 3/8" sockets and 14 1/2"


Right now half my sockets are laying on the floor in front of my box in my shop because I have no were to put them. Please help a fellow GJ member.. I am OCD about my tools and will loose sleep till I find them. Idc what they cost I just want what I want lol

Don't really want them to be labeled and I'm not buying anything from harbor freight lol

I have the black craftsman and like them! Some of my socket sets are split into two rail though and that *****!!!

A while back I had the metal craftsman and boy did I cut myself on them.

Those vim ones are SEXXY. Wish they were magnetic or something. Unless I find something else I'll end up with those.

The Magrail socket holders and tool organization system looks fantastic. You will have to drop a big chunk of change if you want enough to do a whole toolbox with them though. It all depends on how badly you want the box to be organized, I suppose.

ummm the VIM MagRail is Magnetic??? unless i'm missing something? They are badass if you have a deep wallet. I use them to hold extensions and such sideways so they don't roll around. Would love to have them for the rest of my sockets but I priced it and it was going to cost half as much or more than I paid for my box. I settled on the little plastic ones from Craftsman and Husky. Got some of the HF ones to compare but you do notice the difference, they are not the same as the craftsman and Husky. Thats not to say they wont work though.

I don't have a picture as I am not done yet, but since they only come in a shorter length, they don't work for big sets. Like the Mag rail the "posts are interchangeable. If they only come with 10 clips but you can fit 13 sockets on there then do it. I just cut off the excess thats not needed and toss it. If I had 20 sockets and could only fit 9 on one rail and 11 on the other, I just put them next to each other to act as one big rail. Once you get all of your sockets on the rails, then lay them out in your drawer however you want them. Then fasten them down. I plan to use VHB tape, stuffs great for abuse like these will take but I don't really want to stick it right to the drawer bottom for when I decide to re arrange later on. I use PigMat's adhesive blue mat for drawer liners. Not sure yet how well the VHB tape sticking to that will work in the long run, but with enough sockets in there for weight it should work out. If not I'll just shear a plate of sheetmetal the size I need and stick them all to that then fill in with the pig mat where needed. May do that anyways. Other people have used sheets of plywood and screwed the holders down to them if you have deep enough drawers.




Mag rails. Probably changing things up in the future to save more space, but they work good like this right now.



Pig mat from when I put it in wrench drawer awhile back. The wrench racks stuck to it nicely and they do not have anything like VHB tape on them. They came off the pig mat fairly well when I reorganized the drawer a month ago and added a lot more wrenches. I like the Pig mat because its adhesive and actually doesn't move or scrunch (snap on liners move everywhere and ****), they are cheaper (a roll of the stuff is less than most linr kits), they look better, the top is nice a smooth versus sticky (plus or minus), they are absorbent (for minute fluid spills) and if they ever wear out you just peel them out and stick new ones in. The absorbent part is nice for people who don't clean tools before putting them away (I always do but know people who dont).

Doesn't say where they're made either.:lol:

I hate magnetic stuff because you lose magnetic "power" over time (so you gotta "remagnetize" them which isn't always easy to do.

I always revert to nails in board socket holder if you're cheap...or one of the hansen type setups or aluminum rail with clips setups if you want to spend more. Don't know about those "twist lock" deals, most of my rails are mounted or at least fixed in location so locks aren't necessary.

If money is no concern just have a machinist cook something up for you, should be able to do it without much effort on his part, but mucho diniero on your part.

Question about magrails and magnetic organizers as a whole...do they end up magnetizing the sockets/wrenches/etc? One thing I would hate would be magnetic sockets which collect swarf....

I have the Westling socket holders and could not be happier. They are made from billet aluminum, and in the USA.

Not that I have noticed. They do have very powerful magnets though. Not easy to get shorter stuff off of them.


Forgot to mention, I had a twist lock rack for all of two days. hated how bulky and slow it was I returned it.

Yea I meant I liked these earlier. How long did it take to get them from time of order and do sockets fall over if you shut the drawer kinda firm?

Cheap, but way more durable than any other plastic rails. I have 16 deep 1/2 drive impact sockets on an 18inch rail, and I can hold it at one side, and it flexes down, but doesn't snap. That's a lot of weight for a plastic rail, and no HF or craftsman rail could ever do that.

It's hard to beat the ernst rails!

I do really like the VIM as we'll. but with there longest being 16".. It's just not what I want.

nope

What's nice about them is the pegs that hold the socket on twist and lock in place so you're pegs aren't loose and moving side to side.

I'd love to see you demag neodymium from normal use. Or any decent magnet for that matter

I already have my shopping cart filled up with westling, gonna wait till Monday to order. I wanna call and make sure there still in business and have these ready to ship. I really don't want to wait a month for these.

DEFFINATLY not. I take the socket I need and use it. Big pet peave of mine to take a whole rack. I think I see what your saying though, buy 2 and out in the box together?

Yep if you don't need to take a set out then it shouldn't matter if it's 10" or 40". Just cut them to length and line them up.

Buy a few different styles and try them. Then you don't spend too much and find out you don't like them.
