I like the "For Rent sign" in the first pic. I was thinking I like to rent there !

Vernmotor
If you are serious we could make it happen, but I warn you, It's pretty tight quarters.
Thanks for checking in.!

How do you keep all this stuff dusted? I would love to have that problem though!

1949 caddyman
I keep the place shut down pretty much all the doors are sealed up pretty tight.
When we are getting ready for a party, I let my helper know to bring another guy with him to work that day, and it takes both of them me and my wife all damn day to get it ready to show
We dust off every thing then we damp mop and wash the windows
With the man lift we do a high cleaning once a quarter.

Thanks for asking

I was looking over the yard last week and decided that the area where the sand blast box compressor sits needed some attention like maybe grass or something
The more I looked the worse the place seemed to be so I ordered a truck full of top soil to be delivered while I was away visiting my kids.

With the help of my laborer we formed up a pad for the compressor
I went to the rental yard and rented a 1 yard drag behind mixer with a load of mud Came home, poured out and took the mixer back. Came home in time to finish up the slab. The next day we laid down sprinkler pipe and filled the area with the top soil that had been delivered and leveled out the yard for sod

Oh sh-- I failed to reposition the compressor before adding 6 inches of soft dirt
to the yard. I knew that I could get the fork lift into the pad with the compressor loaded, and I just knew that the fork lift would get stuck on the way out

Yep 2 hours later the fork lift was back on hard ground but the sprinkler pipes needed repair and the whole area needed to be filled and releveled

Here is the shot before any work was started

That is looking very nice.
You here people use the term "dirt cheap", I guarantee they have never purchased sod, or top soil, or dirt. That stuff is like bottled water:lol: Who would of thunk 20 some years ago that the price of this stuff would be so high?

You are so right on. I was going to seed the area because of the size, but
after walking out back a week or so ago and counting 7 rabbits sitting around the place. I knew they would not let grass grow very high before hey would mow it to the nubs, so I had no choice but to sod the spot.

The sod came in about 10:30 this morning so we laid down the grass and as planned I have several pieces left over so I replaced several bad spots on the diamond/grass garage approaches and tomorrow will start plugging the driveway out behind the party garage

I see the phone booth has been moved. I guess it's safe to assume that it is now on a truck to my house? Hello, anybody out there!!!!!HELLO, HELLO:dunno:

It looks great, just as does everything you do. I surprised you haven't painted the compressor up yet though.

I always said the three largest commodities on Earth is water, dirt, and rocks, and around here, everyone of those cost dearly!!!! If you want rocks in landscaping, be prepared to pay out the wazoo for them. And contractors around here get double for dirt. It cost to get it moved out, so they make money, then they turn around and sell it to someone else.

When we filled our pond in, fill dirt that has rocks, weeds, stones, and basically clay was $100/tandem axle load. It took 25 loads, not counting what I already had in the pond as fill. Topsoil, normally $250/tandem axle load, and I was cut a deal for $200 since I had to buy another 25 loads. So to say, I could have used another 25, but we now have a nice ROLLING backyard.

Great work on getting a pad for the a/c.
Are you planning on doing the grass in the grid pavers like you did for the front of the garage doors? I really like the look of grass inlaid between the pavers or concrete.
I love working with concrete and rocks. kind of a twisted hobby.

don! once again the place looks great.

Thanks shinertx
I'm glad that you like it .It took longer than I had planned and I was shocked as to the cost of such a small project

Yeh Kevin
The phone booth was only there temporarily until I could get back on it
Now I either pull it back in the shop and spend time on it or place it somewhere else for A SPELL !! (not your house)

Painting the compressor hadn't crossed my mind Thanks for another project

Yes the plan was to buy more grass than I needed for the planter area and use the rest for plugging in the 3" squares in the drive
But after replacing the bad areas in front on the 10 garage doors there was just a little bit of grass left over and we got a small start on that huge project

I don't mind working with rocks but that concrete WHAT A PITA

The old wash tub is sitting with the phone booth waiting for a new resting place around the yard somewhere. I don't think it will go back on the lawn because it would be hard to mow around unless I put down some type of platform for it to sit on (now that is an idea)

Went on a road trip a couple weeks ago (Went to Utah to see the kids)
and found a few new treasures to put into the party garage

I found this old pot belly stove, it was all tarnished but I thought it might have some possibilities. So I brought it home and polished up the nickel trim and found a good spot for it in the game room

Oh and I don't remember showing off my new juke box a 1955 seaburg
It came with all of those neon signs I bought a month or so ago

IMG_4201 by Ann Long, on Flickr

I also found this old spring cabinet with the display on top showing what is in each drawer and the drawers are full.

Don,

On the Seeburg select-o-matic 200 I give you a big "you ****" ;)

Excellent machines they are, love these things

Great catch.

Thanks Sunbimmer

That's right! I remember seeing that you repair and service this kind of stuff
Don't you

Well I could use your help with 4 of the 5 pinball machines that I picked up last week

BP3_8785 by Ann Long, on Flickr

They were in an estate sale all 5 for $1,000.00
all but one works but they all need new rubbers and a bit of TLC

Those are some great items. Looks like they fit just right in their new locations.

Thanks akdiesel

The wall space in the garage is becoming a bit scarce, soon I will be double parking stuff if I don't find a cure for this rare disease soon!!

You can buy graphite/stove blacking polish (similar to shoe polish) for those old stoves. They buff up great :)

ZRX61
Where do I look for stove blacking polish?
I sand blasted the front lower door to get an idea of how it would look
painted but didn't like the results.

What you are looking at is two different items
Here is a head on shot of the Mobile sign and the Corvette clock

Don,

Yes, correct I do repair and service pinball and slot machines, automated roulettes and stuff like that for 31 years now.

I think you did a great deal on all five of them, I do not recognize any one of them because they are all mechanical pinball machines and I have no experience with these machines at all....sorry
I started in the business in 1983 when the early electronic pinball machines where booming business so in the eighties and nineties I did service quite a lot of these machines.
Nowadays the pinball machine is almost extinct, although there are quite a lot of enthusiasts here in the Netherlands.

Feel free to PM any questions you have maybe I have an answer :)

I ordered the black paste kit for the pot belly stove from Amazon the other day and one part of the three part kit arrived with the others on back order
so I have to wait a few more days
Thanks for the link.

Well yesterday and today I have been focused on my Ice cream sign
It is coming along quite well

I have been looking at Ice cream signs on google and found one I could pattern my sign after
So here is what the sign looked like when I bought it.

1 by Ann Long, on Flickr

First thing was to remove all the electrical components and sand blast the cabinet

5 by Ann Long, on Flickr

Next was to put the sign can in the booth to seal and prime the box

12 by Ann Long, on Flickr

The mixing bench by the booth

10 by Ann Long, on Flickr

The sign can was sprayed with brown paint for the base and the accent stripes

15 by Ann Long, on Flickr

That all took place yesterday, Today I pulled the can back out of the booth.
I laid out the pattern on the can and masked off every where I wanted the brown to show.

19 by Ann Long, on Flickr

I scuffed up the brown paint that was not masked over and put the can back in the booth for the second color

26 by Ann Long, on Flickr

The can got its second color applied, a nice tan color. Tomorrow I will mask off 1/2 the tan color and paint the can again with a light pink color. Then the can will be unmasked and we shall see if my plan worked.

I chose the theme of a banana split chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry

Today was spent masking up the ice cream sign for the last time and giving it the color of paint.
I can hardly stand waiting around for the paint to cure.
I want to unmask it and see how it looks all painted up.
