Kennedy 526 top box (8 drawer) with matching 2 drawer intermediate chest. I'd ****** it up myself, but I need another tool box like I need a hole in my head. If it's still there tomorrow evening I might not be able to help myself. For $35 this is a STEAL!

Is there anyone left in Detroit? I only ask because this should have been gone 15 minutes after being posted!

This likely isn't a Hot Deal but still this person did a beautiful job on this old Delta Tablesaw. It's gorgeous.

1947 Restored Delta TableSaw Unisaw - $1385 (Renton)
Just finished up renewing my 1947 Unisaw....its a Beauty!!
This is a 1 hp single phase Saw, 110v or 220v, currently running on 220v. 1725 low rpm model
Restored this Table Saw for my own use and had not intended on offering it for sale, however, a bit short on cash at the momemt.
What was done:Saw was disassembled.
Motor removed & toredown: Commutator turned, new bearings, new throwout spring, new brushes, internals cleaned, I opted to not repaint motor.
Arbor removed & disassembled, new bearings installed.
Worms & meshing teeth cleaned, polished as applicable
Housing, Base, handles, dust door, other exterior parts, stripped down, custom painted and brights polished as applicable.
Fence & rails cleaned, polished and custom painted.
Table top surface cleaned & polished.
Saw has casters mounted under the base.
As expected, the saw runs out as good as it looks. Enjoy the pics..note the detailing.

Ok, I've got to chime in here, I'm not a moderator but this thread is rapidly going down hill.

The recent posts here have been far from any good deals except from what Garage Junky and rice rocket's post's. We really need to get back to posting smoking deals that are worth telling fellow members.

I know I've been guilty of doing the same thing and I think we all need to be more vigilant of only posting really good deals on Craigslist otherwise this thread could lose it's **Hot Deals** sticky status.

Thank You

MacGee : Can you define the criteria for "smoking deals that are worth telling fellow members"?

Excellent question, IMHO: It's deals that are way below normal/typical craiglist prices for items that are in demand and things members are hunting for. Something that usually won't last the day because the deal is that good.

Post local deals that are way better than what has been sold on eBay (not including shipping price).

If you see a nice good quality well known band saw that typically sells on craigslist for $350 or more and you see it selling in good condition for $100, I would think that is worth mentioning.

If you see a used Snap-On tool chest selling for $1100 that can also be typically found used for $1100-1300 on any day of the week on craigslist then that is not a good deal worth posting but if you find a Snap-On three stacked set for $500 then I think that is worth mentioning.

If you see a nice Athol-Starrett, Chas Parker or Wilton bullet 4" vise going for half it's weight, then notify members.

I definitely understand that there can be huge swings in price for the same items because of it's location in the country. Right now living in the city of LA seems to be filled with very low prices but then when I look for items in Tampa, FL I can't believe how high the prices people are asking for absolute junk tools. So keep this in mind.

This is just in my opinion and other members should chime in as well.

This thread can be so useful to members just like the other **Hot Deals** threads if used correctly.

Very well said. It's tough for me to elucidate criteria. Thanx for taking the time to respond.

E.g., yesterday I purchased for $80 two Huot Dispenser Cabinets. (1) Number Drills (2) Letter Drills.

http://www.huot.com/products/product-category/original-dispenser-cabinets/

(1) Each slot contained quite a few number drills.
(2) Re-purposed for taps. A lot of taps.

Was that a smoking deal? To me, yes. I had been looking for (1) for a while. I didn't really need (2), but it was both or none. But I've seen better purchases on the Estate Sale thread.

If I weren't interested in these, I probably would have posted it in the Hot Deals section. The woman selling had not selected a good title (Taps with drawers), so it probably would have missed a lot of people's radar.

It's a tough call on defining a Hot Deal. I just skim through most of these Hot Deals posts anyway (as well as the other threads), looking for nuggets.

Here's another deal but in Tampa. They look dirty and maybe in bad shape but if all they need is cleaning up then I think it's a good deal. Tell me if these are not good deals.

MATCO & SNAP-ON TOOL BOX & ROLL AROUND SET - $225 EACH SET (HUDSON )

PFSard: You are correct, the Huot boxes and bits included is a smoking deal for $80 for both. I'm betting the bits are good USA made ones.

This Vise, while a modern one is selling for about half it's weight (79 lbs). I think it's an older mdl #480. It's big

If it's one of the american made 60,000 psi made versions, then it's a good deal for $45.

I need a transporter (as in Star Trek). I can't believe either one of those is still available.

I am gonna speculate this is a Lista or Equipto but price isn't bad:

That is definitely a Lista but he just raised the price to $350. If you could get it for $250-300 then that would be a good deal depending on how good the paint job is.

Powermatic 54A Deluxe Jointer $300 in San Gabriel Valley/LA

6", 1 phase, 1 HP, 115/230V. Used but in good condition. Lists $1209.00. 339 lbs.

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/tls/4549074956.html

This is a solid jointer with a nice long bed (66"), longer than most. I know you can find cheaper old school jointers but this is one of the good new ones. It's still the current model, Woodcraft is selling it for $1K. I think $300 isn't bad.

It will need some naval jelly.
