Was searching the web for boxes today and came across Nissan Crawler's write up. To further help clarify the COO questions on this old thread, it appears pictures of the Canadian product feature a small Made in Canada icon in the lower left corners while other pics show nothing. Look like great boxes and like others have remarked the price they go for on ebay is really nice, free shipping from "qualitytoolsforless".

See if they will price match. Currently on sale (ships for free as well)

If that is the case, Snap-On should drop their pricing due to the much lower labor costs in China.

Why would anybody make something elsewhere unless it was beneficial to them? :dunno: And if that is the case, I want those savings passed onto me.

Hello,
I'm new here as a friend just directed me to the forum as well as this thread. I've been hemming & hawing over which 42" combo toolbox to get for my shop and keep returning to the $850 combos offered by DevilDogTools.com. I have a pretty strong aversion towards purchasing anything 'Made in China', so this thread made me wonder...

Well, I just got off the phone with a lady in customer service at SPG International (maker of these toolboxes). I explained my concerns and she assured me that any ProWorks/International Tool Box purchased now is manufactured in Canada. According to her, SPG stopped importing Chinese-made boxes in May of 2009.

So, feel free to call the company directly should you have the same concerns I did. I'm looking forward to exploring this site!

I was told the same things, to my knowledge and understanding most if not all SPG boxes are once again made in Canada and have been for the past few years (after a few year period of offshore production). Exceptions might be hand boxes and stainless boxes. I have some 26" boxes and they are tough as nails and a very good value. On the downside I think the styling is a bit weak and the customer service is ok, but nothing spectacular, companies like Waterloo, Beach and Gray usually bend over backwards to help you, SPG does the minimum.

I don't think that's true. I have some boxes without the flag sticker that are made in Canada, some have no stickers at all, others have "Ball Bearings" stickers but they are made in Canada. I was told at least in the 26" boxes that the now defunct Chinese models start with "NR", which none of mine are.
