so I've been in the market for a new box for a while and this matco 5S 5225RX popped up on Craigslist today. I went to look at it and while I was there the guy got two phone calls wanting to buy it. I panicked, and made him an offer. I ended up paying 1200 for it. did I do okay, or did I pay a little too much? either way, I love the box and the color.

Thats a pretty nice box for what you paid, you would be surprized how much those stainless tops are alone probley almost half that price.

I think you did fine. But I'm waiting for the wheeler dealer guys on here that will say they could have bought it for $500 and made the previous owner feel he ripped them off selling it for that much!

I'm not sure what the exact dimensions are, but a KRL 722 or 1022 would be a helluvua good deal in real world, reasonable terms. That looks about equivalent to a KRL so I say at first pass, you did well. Sure I bought my Matco stack from a drug dealer with a gun on the table and still stole it. And my snap on box, think I stole it too. Those deals don't happen too often for the normal guy just looking for a nice box and willing to put up some dough. There are plenty of good deals, I'm just too cheap to come off the cash. If I was looking for one, that's a different story.

The rule is when you make a thread like this you have to show us how you filled it up. I don't know if that's the actual rule but you should do it anyway.

I like that box. It's like what the HF box wants to be when it grows up. I especially like the 2 full length drawers. How deep are those?

Here's some pictures of all the drawers. nowhere near organized yet, but then again, I'm rediculously particular about how my tools are organized, so it will get there.

Mine is sloppy. There are my hi cycle things I use a lot and keep real handy but some of it is not a big deal if it takes a minute to find. Fast to pick up as big a deal as find fast.

1200 is a good price especially with the stainless tops, and Just to add you could have bought 4 harbor freights for that price ( somebody was gonna say it)

Yeah he could have, but instead decided to give his money to an AMERICAN company and the Matco box will far outlive the chinese ****.

Ya done good!

very nice box, You did great on the purchase. Around me that box would have been 1500-1800. Do you hire out your organization skills? I could use a few days worth,

As some others have said, new condition with a stainless top for $1200 = great deal.

Congrats on the new box, that is really nice. I like the drawer layout, size and color. You can really store alot in a small footprint with that box. That box has some interesting design features in the sheet metal compared to other brands. Enjoy it.

Technically he gave his money to some dude who originally gave his money to an American company.

The plot twist would be if the dude goes out and buys $1200 of HF tools with the money you gave him lol.
