does Wilton sell only the swivel base for bullet vises?

I see a lot of used Wilton bullet vises on CL, many of them are missing the swivel base. I reckon the swivel base is hard to find by itself. Does Wilton sell brand new swivel bases for the bullet vises? If so, does anyone know what models are supported by their parts department, and prices?

They certainly do, though I hope it's for a vise you plan on keeping as they are NOT cheap. autopts gave me this link for my 450N, he said it's the cheapest reputable source he's found:

https://weldingsupply.com/cgi-bin/browsecatalogs.pl

Search for part number: 2904120

I also found it here, if you order before July 7th the entire assembly is $128

http://www.toolpartspro.com/wilton-parts/wilton-10225-c-1-parts/2904120-swivel-base-assembly.html

Make sure it's the right size for the vise you have. A lot use the same size but it really depends.

you might check the parts section or put a thread in the Wanted section for a swivel for your Wilton. i haven't checked lately but some wiltons so break with abuse so the swivel might have survived.

good luck

The swivel base isn't 'missing', they are sold with and without the swivel...

eg: Wilton 450N (stationary) and Wilton 450S (swivel)

I actually prefer the lower profile stationary setup...

i never understood this, the comparable swivel base mounts to the bench with 4 bolts, the (N) stationary vise mounts with 2. in my mind it just looks like its missing the base. :lol_hitti

If you want to add to the bench attachment strength, thread a stud in the pivot hole, and drill a center hole as well, and now you have three bolts, one of which is HUGE...

They are on the same plane, I doubt the center bolt will do much in terms of strength. Two is enough if torqued down. Now if you drilled a new mount near the back of the base that's a different case and much preferred.

Andrew, thank you for the tip on the sale!

I order the Outer Ring (#1011980) and Inner Ring (#1010810), then procure a pair of Mr. Kevin Scott's fine swivel locks. It ends up being about the same price as the Swivel Assembly, but with exceptional swivel locks instead of Wilton production parts.:pimpflash

This vise here;

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-professional-4-1-2-in-bench-vise/p-00951888000P

comes with a base that will fit many 4" and 4 1/2" Wilton vises. You can buy one at your local sears and test it out. With on-line coupon codes I've seen the price as low as $110 in the past. (I have no idea what's out there currently.) Now, yes, this is more expensive than buying the base outright but you also get all the hardware to go with the base and it's all new. But here's the kicker, you can sell the top portion of the vise, eBay for example, as new and get a big chunk of your money back. I bet you could get almost all of it back actually. The bases on these are fine, these are 60,000 PSI castings and nobody will ever be the wiser.

Edit: And who knows, maybe the jaws will fit too, then you'd be way ahead of the game and have a brand new set of jaws.
