Does anyone have any info on this ratchet? I can't find it on the website. Is it available? Anyone know a price?

Thanks,
Robert

I don't think they make a 3/8" flex in short handle (3/8" head), They make a FHF80, But im unaware of a chrome handled version.

I take that back after looking at Wrenchrs link, Is this something New?

Yes, the FF80 is a new ratchet. Close to the F80 in length with a flex head. Here's a picture with an FL80, FF80, and a F80. I measure it to be about 8 5/16" long.

Yes new product. I texted my driver to get one, they were suppose to be in. With the current snow storm,I doubt I get mine for another week.Overall length is less than 9". Just a hair longer than the F80.

They've had an FHF80 out for ages, I didn't even know there was no chrome counterpart.

ok, I gotta know. Where do you need to use the shorty? I have the HF one and have NEVER used it. Just curious? (I'm not a pro wrench either, so...)

V6 spark plugs, sometimes its the only ratchet that you can cheat with to replace the plugs without pulling the manifold. The ratchet practically pays for itself within the first use there.

This could very well be the perfect ratchet. I LOVE my FHLF80, but many times its just too long to be practical. I have always wished they offered a regular length 3/8 flex head with chrome grip and here it is. Most likely will be buying soon.

OUTSTANDING!!!

I have always wanted an 8 1/2 inch long fine tooth 3/8 drive flex head ratchet. I've used the slightly longer (9.5 inches or so long) versions from snappy FHF80, matco and Carlyle. I guess 8 5/16 will have to due. thanks for sharing.

If the moon and stars align right and the snappy driver shows up on time I should have my FF80 Wednesday.

I would like to compare with bostitch standard flex ratchet to snap on ff80 as compare 72 teeth to 80 teeth, 24 dollars to 114 dollars. I may talk with my snap on guy about ff80 to see if he has sell it.

Hi Dave,

I'm no professional, but I can tell you my rational for wanting it. I'm looking for a general purpose ratchet. I greatly prefer a flex head, but for general purpose use, often find a flex head too long. Having a flex head in a regular 3/8 inch length is perfect for me. So I will be using it anywhere I would normally use a 3/8 fixed head.

Thanks for all of the info everyone!

Thanks,
Robert

makes good sense y'all. Guess I'll keep that cheap little HF one I have for a just in case scenario. Which reminds me of why I like working on tractors. Big open space. lol

I agree 100%. I was looking for a general purpose ratchet that was short enough to fit in places and with a flex head but still be long enough to have a little bit of leverage. I also wasn't a fan of the comfort grip for something I'd use in small spaces, so this is my idea of a perfect ratchet. I've been searching for something like this for awhile and my local snap-on guy didn't answer his phone all day yesterday so I just ordered it from the website at the same url that zoso posted (http://store.snapon.com/Non-Catalog-Items-SHORT-HANDLE-FLEX-P9772439.aspx)

Should be coming in today! I haven't been this excited about a ratchet in awhile. Hope it delivers once I get it in my hand :willy_nil

Ooh, I want!

Curious what others think, though. I currently have an older (36 tooth?) Snappy 3/8" standard ratchet. For a non-pro, do you think I would be better off getting the FF80 first, or the regular F80? I do have an Armstrong long flex as well...

I probably still use my regular F80 and FLF80 more than the short flex FF80. I have been trying to use the FF80 more, but I need to tighten up the screw so that the head doesn't flex around as easy. That's the big reason I like my Matco flex ratchets.

I am in the exact same situation! I have an older 36T Snappy F936 and want to upgrade finally to a "new" 80T model. What did you go with?

I use my hand tools 95% of the time on my motorcycles, so am sometimes in some awkward spaces.

I am between the regular F80, the FR80 (same but with quick release for when my hands are oily), and the FF80. I have even put some thought into the longer locking flex model FX80 but am concerned with the length.

So far I am leaning between the F80 and FF80 but it's hard to decide! I do not own any flex head ratchets and am definitely concerned with them flopping around, but can also see how they would be useful when you are in tight spots

I am not a pro mechanic and have always worked with second- and third-tier hand tools such as Craftsman and Mastercraft, and so far have managed with flex joints and no flex head.

But now I need a flex head 3/8 drive ratchet, and I am not impressed with what I have been able to find locally. I found this thread and just placed my first Snap-On order for a FF80 and a set of shallow + deep sockets. :D

You will like it, especially going from can to SO.

I ended up going with the FF80.

So far I love it! Massive upgrade coming from the F36 for sure. The flex head is nice and solid, not floppy at all.
