I'm considering an electrical cord reel and just curious with what you all are using. I'll probably be mounting it on my garage wall.

Thanks...

I just got the Klutch reel from northern tool. It is a 12ga 45 or 50 foot reel with the three outlet tap. I have had it since February. I like it so far, but you have to watch it when you reel in the last 15 foot of cord. They could have made the sides of the reel itself a little deeper. It would be easy for the cord to jump over the side of the reel when retracting. I got it on sale for $199 and had a $20 off coupon. I was really wanting a similar reelcraft unit but it was over $300 and I had gift cards for northern. Most of the reviews I read on the cheaper plastic reels said the plastic mounts they swivel on fail and the reel falls to the floor. The Klutch is mounted solid and it does not move when you pull the cord out.

I inherited one of those plastic hand-cranked cord winders with the string basket hanging below, and to my surprise, it really works quite well. Not automatic, but lightweight and low cost. I like it better than I'd have ever guessed.

I've had an Alert Stamping 5000A-30GFCB since September of 2009. No problems other than nuisance tripping of the breaker, but that's probably 'cause I'm overloading it anyway (it's only rated for 10A). That pretty much means it's held up to being abused for 5 years.

Paid $45 for it.

I saw that one on Amazon.....was hoping someone would chime in that has one of those. I think that basket might be a bit too big for the area that I'm wanting to mount it in. I'll consider it though.

I have two Bayco SL800 I bought at Lowe's. They look like the yellow model above with a slightly different 3 outlet head on them.

They (now) work fine. The first one I bought has been flawless. The second one popped the spring after about 10 uses. I contacted Bayco directly and they were very responsive and sent me an RMA to return int and they sent me a new one which has been in use for a couple of months now with no issue.

Based on the current state and the good service experience I would buy another one if I needed another.

Bought the SnapOn branded one from Costco, inexpensive, works fine.

This is from another thread here:

I have the Reelcraft L4545. It's a very beefy unit.
