Ok, so my little detached 3-car garage is getting filled full of stuff... and it's irritating me.

I wasn't going to even build here, but I've wanted a nice barn since I was a kid. I started pricing pole barns around and have found one I really like and will fit on my property nicely. (5 acres)

This is perfect: http://www.bob-barn.com/gallery/album39

I have a few trees to knock down (JD 510 backhoe) and do some grading, but don't want to do any of the labor on it.

Specs:
40' Wide
48' (ish) Long
14' walls
12" eave overhang
Shingled.
5/12 pitch.
Doors on the west side (long side)
Porch (maybe)
Lean-to off the back (maybe)
I'd like two roll up doors.
One man door.

This could be me... even the color is perfect

Not sure about concrete.
What I would like to do is pull the permit, have it build and finaled, wait for my taxes to increase, then dig the footings inside and concrete it.

But, what about the rollup doors in the meantime? Obviously it wont be sealed, but would I pour a rat wall or something underneath the door until I pour concrete or just stone?

Budget: 15k (ish) 20k max.

Anyone wanna build it?! LOL

$2300 for a 30'x 34' with a slab? Sure they didn't leave out a zero? As for the OP. I have seen some guys pot a cement footer a the way around for the pole barn. Then come back later and do a floating slab.

Talked to my concrete guy about it and he said I'll need about 40 yards for 5" and would give me a good price. He said I would dig a 2' rat wall and be ok.

Not sure about the labor though.

Called an Amish builder a few of my buddies have built barns with but have not made contact with him yet - which is not unusual.

Checking some prices tomorrow and figuring out how to finance it.

I also had my buddy over who happens to be approving plans for the twp now and he said I am fine with a steel roof.

I'm also pricing 30'x48' and some other combinations in between.

Thinking a 2' overhang would be nice over the doors.
