I met with the WeatherTech people a couple of years ago at SEMA and at that time decided not to bring in the product. There were a few kinks in the product line and a few points of contention we were not able to agree on. Fast forward to last week....
Literally a couple of years in the making, we have decided to add the product to our offering. Like any product on the market it has Pro's and con's. I wanted to go through these with you so regardless of where you decide to make a purchase you have the information.
If I was going to purchase this system I would purchase the premium system with the traction squares.... My opinion is based on this system ...
- The system is incredibly quiet
- They have dealt with the expansion and contraction issues by offering an expansion joint
- This system IS for someone who is willing to pay for the convenience of no cutting, easy to install system.
- This system is NOT for the high end, this is my workshop customer
- They do say you can mix and match. I have found that because of the slight difference in thickness that doing so may cause tenting if there is a large temperature swing or direct sunlight and the expansion joints are not properly used.
The bottom line is this is a thinner but well designed system that suffers from the same issues as all garage floor tiles -- but they have done a good job creating a system for fixing it. When installed in accordance with their directions it performs very well in a residential garage.
The thing I like the most is how quiet it is and how it feels under foot. The thing I like the least is the thickness or lack there of.
I do not like white tiles in general and this system is no exception. They just look dirty quickly.
