I did a web search and it looks like it is only available online; the funny thing is that if I change my store to different stores in the area, the prices change from 79.99 to 47.99 to 23.99 .. of course the shipping was $34 ..

They've got 4.99 shipping on orders of $99.00 or more. Of course that means if all you want is the reel for $23.99, you've got to buy a bunch of stuff you don't need to get the shipping rate down!

:lol_hitti I supposed this is going to be like the Gladiator cabinet thread. Now we all have to rush Lowes for a hose reel or two. I'll have to stop tonight to see about them. I could use two I believe.

I had the 25 ft. HF one. The catch mechanism failed. Man...let me tell you...that's more frustrating than not having a reel at all!

I now have the 50 ft. from Task Force (same as the one from HF). Hopefully it will hold up better.

I picked up 4 of them today 2 for me and 2 for my neighbor . My stores regular price was $79.99 and they had them for $41.99 . I had a printout from BDBLK2K3's store . I went to lowes online and typed in his store number 1060 in the locator and searched that store for the reels it showed $23.99 . I printed it out and took it with me and my store matched it . I got the last 4 they had :D:D:D. Thanks BDBLK2K3 great deal .

For those that have one, is the hose itself decent? A buddy of mine has a low buck reel and the hose is super stiff and a PITA.

Oh Snap! I forgot that they should match neighboring store's prices! I ordered two online from far away (luckily that store is still along my 85 mile commute). Now I can return the HF 25 footers I just bought!

Note: I tried to order several to get it over $100, let me tell you the 4.99 parcel shipping does not apply. I have a kind of large garage so I wanted more that a few.

Edit: After getting a confirmation call saying they were ready for me to pick up, I got another call saying they were out. DRATS!

Thanks for the tip - I have been wanting those for some time but not at $79.99.

So, went to my Lowe's store & they had 1 on clearance for $41.99....told them about the Charlotte deal & the store manager sold me his last one for $23.99.

Armed with that receipt, I went to the next nearesy store...they were out of stock but had been $41.99....went to the next one, showed them my receipt & a zone manager told me they were still a stock item in that store & were $79.99 (& that they had 4 more on order).

So, went to the farthest store - 1 in stock there for $79.99...showed them my $23.99 receipt & the store manager told them to match it.....now, I've got 2!

Learned a little on that round trip....1st, Lowe's has sent out a memo that tells all stores to match prices of other stores if there's a Lowe's receipt showing the price (that's why the manager marked his down from $79.99 to $23.99).

So, tomorrow, armed with both my receipts, I'm returning to the store that wouldn't reduce them & am going to speak with the MOD (Manager on Duty) & show him my 2 receipts...I need 2 more & he has them.

Good for you Autoist . I had been wanting one as well and my neighbor had mentioned the next time I saw them on sale at Horrible leight to grab him one so I called him today and told him of the deal and he laughed and said heck at that price grab me 2 if they have them so now he and I both have 2 of them . The hoses seem decent to me and for $23.9 even if you had to replace the hose dang who cares . They also come with a seperate 3' leader hose.

After I got screwed by the manager on the Gladiator cabinet deal (he wouldn't mark them down at noon, but they were marked down and got by 5 pm) I wasn't so sure on this deal. Stopped by and got 1 for the 23.99, the wife thinks it will be great for all those times she fills the kids bikes with air!

I've been lurking for sometime and plan on giving a full overview of my 2 car garage on a budget build, it's about 2/3's of the way done with tons of homemade creative storage ideas. I'll post pictures and the full story as some as I get a little further along 1-2 weeks.

Guys, unlike the Gladiator thread, this is one item that you should give a little extra thought to. Replacing the hose is a no brainer but a lot of these cheaper hose reels are known for having issues with the rewind mechanisms. Just keep that in mind. I know the price is cheap, but your labor/time to install it on the ceiling or wall may not be. Remember, you're now crossing into cheap tool territory. Best of luck!

Scored one at the local store with a $10 off $50 purchase (I needed some other things anyway), out the door for $20.13 plus tax.

Great deal!

Printed out the web page from Timonium MD with the $24 price, took it to Gaithersburg and bought the last two they had. The manager lady gave the printout a weird look, and then changed the price using the "Incorrect Price" option. Got two for ~$55! However, the lady took my print out to show to her manager. So if you are hitting up multiple stores using this method, print a couple pages!

Returned the two unused 25' ones I got from HF for ~$78. WIN!

Oh, BTW the reels weren't down on the floor where their price was listed ($41), they were way up on a shelf, 20' high.

Phy I made the girl at the store I went to make her own dang copy she had a copy machine right behind her :D. I will add here these were originally $79.99 each which I dont consider cheap and I will go through the trouble of hanging both of mine . The one near the door will probaly not get that much use so if I have to switch it out for the other one someday I wont be that upset for $24.00 :D.

I just got one in Richmond, KY (one more left in stock). I had printed the page from Charlotte (goodl old #1060) as proof. The asst. manager told me that was the online price only. I insisted they were selling them in the store for that price and asked him to call and check. He did and said ok. He seemed not to believe that another Lowes was undercutting his price so much, but there it was.

I realize this is not a pro quality tool, but it should serve me well. If it doesn't, then $24 for a 50' rubber hose ain't bad.

Thanks to BDBLK2K3 for bringing this to light. I've got three Gladiator cabs now and this reel. Can't wait for the next buy. Don't you all think we work up some sort of Bat signal for these fast-breaking deals?

$80.00 is crossing into cheap for a hose reel?

Technically $80.00 could be considered cheap for a hose reel you can actually spend $400.00+ for one but not in my shop even $80.00 was more than I was willing to spend not to have to roll them up myself :D. Heres one from Reelcraft .

http://www.gemplers.com/product/5650LP/Reelcraft-Hose-Reel-With-Hose-50x3-8

There is no way in heck without hitting the powerball I would pay $250.00 for a hose reel for my HOME shop.

I stopped by lowes on the way home tonight. They had the reel, but it was $42. The hose looked like a decient PVC, not rubber. Okay reel for $42, but not a special price. I would have bought it for $23 though.

Twostory just print out the page from the original posters store and take it with you and they will let you have it for the $23.00 and the hose is actually a decent rubber hose not a pain in the **** PVC one :D.

I know I am a newby and I am biased as I work for a US reel mfg of which the one you are all buying is a copy. I say for home use and $25 you can go wrong. Just know when it fails there are no replacement parts available. No swivels, no spring motors, no roller brackets. A good quality commercial grade reel for 3/8 x 50' is around $300. You can score on amazon a Reelcraft for around $250. Not quite as good but will last for a hobbiest.

Why do we need hundreds of Senators and Congressmen to put together a stimulus plan when we have Lowe's!

Will they match that price, even if these stores are 600 miles apart from each other?

Rick mine did I live in Louisville Ky. The original posters store is in Charlotte NC. They are required by corporate to match any other stores price especially their own stores . I picked up 4 count em 4 reels today for a grand total out the door including unclesams cut of $101.76 . The price in my store was $79.99 each originally and todays price without the printed out page from here was $41.99 I got them for $23.99 each .

They matched at mine and it's 1200 mi from Charlotte NC. I selected the Charlotte NC store to display the price and showed them the print out. :)

Where/how did you guys print out the #1060's price?

On the Lowe's site, enter the store number 1060 and then type in the item number. It will bring up the discounted price..Print said page. I am considering giving it a shot....But I live in MA, and usually they don't deal. I tried with the Kobalt 80 Gal compressor deal a while back...we'll see. -Gabe

I Missed getting in on this. Crapola. I went to a lowe's here and they would not price match because they are stocking this item. They reviewed around 6 stores in this area. All of the non-stocking stores were out and the two that had them would not price match

Where are we getting corporate/Tribal dictate info that demands any lowe's match any other? Not working in Los Angeles-South Bay. I did find one for $44.00..but did't think it was that special.

And to pacmktg: Welcome.

I'd love to have a good USA made hose reel. Hey but you can buy two of these "Chinababies" for $60.00 if you can get this deal and save one for "when" the first one lets go.

You guys ever have scrath N Dent sales-or any sort of blowouts?

Stargeezer,

They (Coxreels) hold their line on pricing very tight. I have never seen them have a sale of any kind and have worked with them for almost 20 years. I have also seen their reels in use myself that were over 35 years old in a working industrial shop. Sorry

What are the best makes of reel and why? Even the top of the line stuff, I'm not so sure about the hose. I don't mind spending a lot for a hose for the shop that sees constant use. I think that's money well spent. That $25'er wouldn't last 4 or 5 months in our shop.

I picked one up yesterday, but I paid $31 for it. It's still in the box, I have to hook my compressor up sometime this week so I can put it to use. I think $31 is still a pretty good deal.

So, this morning, armed with my 2 receipts from the other 2 stores & store 1060's information, I tackled the MOD at the store that y'day said "No" to a price reduction.

He looked it up in his computer & said it was still a stock item for his store & that he had 4 more incoming...but, he said he had to honor the prices I found at the other stores....he had 1 in stock.

So, I now have 3 at the $23.99 price...there are no more in Huntsville or Madison, AL....I need 1 more...going up to the farm in Tennessee Thursday - I'll get another along the way!

Woot!!! Scored two during lunch today... regular price, but the MOD matched it, saying "but don't make a habit outta this"... I said thank you kindly, took my too reels and left.

TwoStory, FYI... I cleaned out the new Lawrenceville-Suwanee/85 store, sorry.
