Well, I guess its time to show some of my older tools first, not a collection by any stretch rather more an eclectic mix.

I will let the pictures do the talking.

For the most part all of the tools came from either my fathers or grandfathers shops.

Cheers

Hahhh .... I had one of those funny, adjustable spanners in your first piccy, 1/2 Cup.

.. can't say that I was sorry, when it went walkabout one day .. :D

All that woodworking gear looks like hardwork .. ;);)

... but I suspect it oozes, sentimental attachment .. ..

Had this little thingy in my assortment box for ages, please forgive my ignorance of wood working tools, my collection of wood tools is quite sparse. I do however appreciate good tools of all types, especially wood tools, they have a great connection of times long gone..
I did not know what this was until recently. :dunno:

Still works a treat though....

It's been a while, but as promised, most of what I had coming, the smaller end of the spanner set still hasn't showed up, nor the 1 5/16 spanner, 1 7/8 is at work. All German Gedore 1b spanners. 3/4 drive Sidchrome socket set, haven't actually used it yet but no overly impressed with it.
8 piece Knipex circlip pliers, these showed up this afternoon, and look quite good so far.

Slightly off topic but I used to use hammerite spray cans in the uk when I needed a thick hard spray covering and the finish was not smooth. I have tried rustoleum and all the bunnings products but they just aint doing it for me.... anyone got any suggestions?

Some of you seem to be impressed so I will share this from the store at work, 75mm Gedore, to the right is a 60mm gedore, the same as the one pictured in my photos.

Thanks for posting those pics and also for your insights into SP tools - I must admit I bought them on impulse as I was looking at a better "complete kit" to load up in the van. Might have to do some gym work first- even empty the chest is heavy ! I ended up changeing the order to this one :
http://www.transquip.com.au/product...d-Service-Diamond-White-Tool-Box-SP50058.html

seems to fit my use but yeh, the SP motorsport tools look interesting ...

Made in Taiwan apparently ? Seem reasonable quality but I am a big fan of Taiwanese tools second only to Japanese if we are talking Asia , otherwise of course no one can argue with US tools and many European tools too.

I can see you also clean your tools before putting them away - this was drummed into me by my grandfather so many times when I was a kid I can't do it any other way. I will dump my tools onto one of my benches after a project to wipe over with a rag before putting away, any major grease on a non-metal handle I will remove with hand cleaner and rinse it. I realise this will get me some flack from some of the guys here.

I helped my brother the other day with some projects around his house - needed a screwdriver so he handed me one straight out of his toolbox. My SIL was not impressed with all the grease marks I instantly spread (from this tool's black handle- didn't see black oil getting all over my hands) all over the plasterboard wall .... oops ... :dunno:

I am very happy with the SP spanners and sockets that I have. I first used the Quad Drives on a 30 year old diesel in a boat that had not moved in 5 years. I think that they are worth the extra money. Some of the Autopro store carry some of the SP range so if you want to get a feel of the tools ....

I was told that Sidchrome are now made by Stanley as are Repco branded stuff. Most Repco store do not stock Sidchrome anymore to allow the promotion of their own brand and lift the prices.

Hey - welcome to GJ ... first post and all , I feel priviledged ! And thanks for your input...I must confess- I am a total tool *****, and have now tested my SP tools against my other ones... I agree, good stuff !!

Couldn't help myself ... a sh!tload of Stahlwille spanners arriving this week ...

Just wondering if anyone would have any interest in swapping a Snap On FLF 80 for another nice fine tooth ratchet?
Do not like the flex too much, even when it's tight

Ive got 2 english made britool 3/8 (pre buyout). One stubby and one long, in need of a rebuild as the reverse lever is a little loose. They are good quality though.
I'd do a trade and give you some cash if your interested? I dont need a flex head at all but why not!!

oh- also , in urgent need of some impact sockets, went for this set from SP Tools including some extensions and a universal attachment - hope quality is OK but price is good...look like they can handle whatever you can throw at them.

edit: sorry , having trouble with the attachment - is this working now ?

And instead of paying a small mortgage for the fixtures i decided to get a bag of m16 bolts, sized the head against some black pipe and welded up the pipe. For the clamps I cut the end off an f clamp and welded that up.. with the nuts clamping the 30mm bolts it works a treat...
