Need to engineer a remote switch via WIFI

I have a need to remotely switch the following:

ELECTRICAL
REQUIREMENTS
230 VAC, 4-Wire,
50 AMP, 60 Hz
GFCI Protected
Dedicated Separate Circuit

Using a Belkin Wemo Maker - http://www.belkin.com/us/wemo-maker/

So 220 - 50 amps -> solenoid (unknown) -> Wemo low volt switch -> breaker box - dedicated circuit. Anyone know how best to direct me on my quest?

For that "high" amperage I'd think you'd need a contactor.
The wireless switch would control the coil of the contactor.

Thank you again for the help, as you can tell I am not skilled and once I get an understanding... I will hire someone to install it making sure it is to code.

Just curious, is there a specific reason you want to go with the Belkin? I only ask because it doesn't seem to be available yet..

I used to be an advocate of wemo stuff till one fine day they send an annoying forced update to my app, because they had a security breach on their switches fundamental flaws. (this March / late Feb), broke the app / switch connectivity for all my wemo switches calling them for support have been horrible. very very horrible. so many promise of call backs from their advance supports. problem still have not been fixed. So DON"t go WeMo they just give you nothing but headaches if you encounter problems.


as far as contactors / solenoids think plenty of threads on this forum, and plentyy on ebay used. even if you get a 3PH mechanical ones you can just use 2 legs instead of 3.... and match the right voltage of the solenoid coil , to your control.

I am looking at Wemo products for the IFTTT aspect. I have not found a switch that has an open API for full home integration. If the belikin team (which has been responsive via twitter), doesn't solve the problem.. going through IFTTT.com might give you a way to fix things without going through their own application.

Not worth the headache. IFTTT is not even in the picture when your app is not able to connect to the switch after they push updates. Poor testing , poor QA, poor software design, and extremely poor support, false promise. long wait on phones, give lies to solution, incompetent support, and ignorant "advance" support.

But sure it's your $$$ go with what you like. there have to be other IFTTT products better than wemo. even if you have to make it out of the raspberry PI B+ or some ARM dev borads.
