finally got my shop sign up.

A while back I posted the fabrication process of a sign for my machine shop. The profile is that of an engine lathe. I just got it installed recently. Here are a few pics. Still working on the flood lights. The top of the posts are rockets I made up and had chrome plated as are the arms for the flood lights.

Very nice sign for sure, but gives no clue as to what you

do inside. Could be any type of service/contractor for all

I know. I should think you would want to advertise that

you do "machine shop services," and don't scrub pots and

pans. Please don't take this the wrong way, b/c it is just

my opinion. I saw a machine shop sign, earlier in my youth,

that had a set of meshed gears as the logo, and the words

"Howe's Machine Shop." No one missed the meaning when

they saw the sign.

Really neat! That came out great. Pick some small flood lights as not to detract from the sign.

I would agree on something to suggest a machine shop of some nature. Unless you are located off the beaten path and people are not going to use your sign as advertisement of the business. I go to a plumbing supply house in the back of a warehouse off some industrial street that gets no traffic. A sign there has little value and word of mouth/google is where they get business.

Maybe some gears, threads of some kind on the building itself.

Hi its an odd little spot of town off the main drag, across from a rail yard. It more of a land mark than for advertisement. Some good posts.

Funny you should mention that. I bought some rather pricy LED flood lights. They were a little out of scale, ( too big ). When I turned them on it blinded oncoming traffic. I ended up putting them on the house. I found some suitable small floods and I will wire in a photocell. Will post a few pics soon.
