IR needs a W7150 replacement, preferably one as powerful as the 2235 gun :D

Looks awesome! Thanks for giving us the heads up.
I'll be ordering one as soon as you release a Bright Green & Black "Special Edition" version :)

Seriously...I would buy a Neon Green IR...wont buy a normal color IR Gun.

I am pretty sure the 3/8 gun is right around the corner they usually come out around the same time since 3/8 and 1/2 are there core lines

The Quiet version is rated at 30 ft-lbs(3%) less than the non-quiet which takes it down to 900 ft-lbs Max / 1300 ft-lbs Nutbusting.

So, for my purposes, it's a power difference that makes no difference. I say that because I don't think I've ever encountered any fastener that would need 1,300 ft-lbs, so the likelihood of one falling into the 1,301-1,330 ft-lb range is microscopic. I'm not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV or online.

Is this new gun QUIETER than the existing quiet tools? I mean, sure, I'm a guy, I like having more power at the ready, but even the 2135 is overkill for me, so if/when I get an impact wrench, noise is going to be a BIG consideration, as will COO and the usual considerations.

If you do not need the power have u looked at a ir2125 or a ir2132 they might be better price wise for u aswell

Sounds awesome.

I love my 2135, might just have to check this one out after it is released.

When is the projected release date?

What about the older model Matco impacts? My Matco guy told me that Ingersol made their impacts, and that was a big selling point for me. This was probably 4 years ago at the time. It is the older cased composite impact, looks just like Ingersol stuff but with a red Matco case on it.
Matco was selling IR impacts a few years back, but recently changed manufacturers.

Matco MT2120 3/8" Composite Impact Wrench - Ingersoll Rand 2115TiMAX
Matco MT1769QA 1/2" Quiet Impact Wrench - Ingersoll Rand 2135QTIMAX

They'll be available before SEMA so you will definitely be able to check them out at SEMA if you haven't already seen one by that time.

.

can this thing remove honda crank bolts with out using heat or should I step up to a bigger gun?

Whats funny is IR has a brake on the W7150, and Snap-on does not on their electric, last I checked. As well, in our shop we did the Mac v Snap-on v IR 7150, all lithiums and all about 1 year old on truck lugs. We torqued one to about 900ft-lbs, and my IR was the only one to remove that nut. It def took some time though, maybe 20 seconds.

I am bummed my 2135 is now supplanted. I have 3/4 and 1" guns as well, but the 2135 just about made the 3/4 gun irrelevant. If my 1/2 couldn't do it, my 3/4 often couldn't either. I'll be looking forward to the significant increase in power. Going to have to clean house later on this year. Though I'm out of the game now (going to be putting on a white shirt and a little name plaque on my desk...) I still like to keep my box somewhat current.

I bought a snappy for that reason. I was disappointed. I thought the "anvil stop" meant it would stop almost instantly (like most cordless impacts). With a heavy socket on it, it takes about 3 seconds to spin down, whereas an unbraked IR takes about 6 with the same size socket on it. The anvil brake was poorly implemented, but otherwise would have been a great feature.

I can see why the Snap On needs anvil brake. The trigger is horrible, almost like an on/off switch. The IR's trigger is much easier to feather. I use my IR guns enough to know when to let go of the trigger. Spent years with my Snap On MG-series and I still hate the damn thing.

Anyways, let's hear those 2235timax reviews, preferably from someone who used the 2135 gun prior.

I've got them both.....I will be doing a full review on the new one very soon. Going from the 2135QTiMAX to the 2235TiMAX is quite the difference in noise levels......I would suggest if someone is used to the quiet version, you order the same one again in 2235 (the power level is about 30 ft-lbs less than the normal 2235).

I just sold my 7 year old 2135Quiet on Ebay for over $140 net. Going to pick up a 2235Quiet for under $280 on Tuesday. Kinda like getting it for half price. SWEET!

To me Nitrocat and Aircat are the only game in town. Killer torque and much quieter than the I-R. I've got the new 1250K and it's awesome. I don't work on the railroad and anything under that these tools will tear up.

Probably performance comparison, which is much more interesting than boot vs boot :p

Damn, was looking to pull the trigger on the new 2235 direct from the IR factory authorized outlet (cheapest price I found.. 287 or so, free shipping). But... dont want to put it in service without a boot, they get too beat up fixing rusted michigan piles of ****.

I agree. Boots are cheap on amazon, and I believe the improved cosmetic condition of the gun (although irrelevant for performance) will pay you back at resale time if you sell on ebay. I haven't sold any on ebay, but I've bought enough to know cosmetic condition is the same or more important than functional condition. They'll go for twice as much if they still look good.

Well, I upgraded to the 2235timax today and I'm excited to see what it'll do. I use a 1/2" impact hard and I need all the power I can get. I even drilled a fresh air fitting for it (pictured next to an un drilled one)

First impressions/observations: it's just slightly bigger than the 2135timax it replaced but not objectionally so. Weight is very close.

I noticed they lowered the max free speed RPM of the air motor to 8500 RPM from the previous gun's 9800 RPM. This is a good thing, it reduces the impacts tendancy to sling lug nuts and wobble sockets across the shop and helps the anvil to slow to a stop faster.

I will be using the piss out of this thing and I should know pretty quick if it's gonna be a worthy replacement to my trusty 2135timax. Our shop air supply and piping is up to the task so it should put out full rated power. Trials begin tomorrow. Take a good look, it'll never look like this again!

Sweet, let us know how it goes today. What method do you use to drill those out? Just a drill press?

Living in the rust belt, I anxiously await some real world experiences!

I'll let you guys know how it performs once I get good trigger time over a variety of daily jobs.

BC, I just used a steady hand and cutting oil with an air drill to drill the fittings. Standard HSS 118 degree point drill bit in 15/64 size

8500 RPM seems plenty fast. Doubt anyone is pulling lugs off NASCAR-style. Keep us updated.

Thought a couple of IR 2235timax/2135timax (new and old impact) comparison pics might be nice being that there is a slight size difference.

(First pic 2235 is on left.)
(Second pic 2235 is on right.)

New gun did its first head gasket job the last couple days. Took mack headbolts consistently to 190 ft/lbs on terrible shop air that's only about 95psi at the gun.

With proper air supply the gun will be a beast.
