Seriously, would you pay $35 for this?

:wtf:http://coolmaterial.com/gear/the-wr...296828522&mc_cid=317936bf78&mc_eid=fc158d997f An anodized block of metal with a hole and a slot. And you can even set your phone in it. If you would, I'll custom make some to your design and powdercoat them for way less. O just cannot believe someone would say "Oh Hell....I need that" :wtf:

I can see some things that people come up with, but good Lord, that is ridiculous in my opinion.

The thing is, the guy who is going to buy that wouldn't look at it twice if it was $10. They're the type who wants to show off the things that they can afford that normal folk scoff at. You know. Douche-bags.

Kevin, I can't disagree but with material, machine and polish, packing, promoting, taking it to the shipper, etc., any or all, $35 is not unreasonable for someone who fancies that.

Agreed. Sure, anyone with a mill could make one in a few minutes, but that's not the point.

Kevin your seriously cheaper than me. To make that I would have to walk out to the shop, find the material, cut the blank, return stock, set it up, machine it out, debur, polish, clean the machine, package, deliver to shipper. You would do that for $35. For me I would not do that for anyone outside the family.

I also would not pay $35 for that. But those outside the world of machine shops could see that as magic.

One second thought, with the price of brass stock heading toward the price of gold, $35 may not be too bad an investment. Just tell them not to drill and slot it when you order! :)

It's ridiculous, put yuppies love ridiculous. What's $35 for a pen holder when you drop $200 on today's work clothes (suit), and $30 on lunch (minimum)? Haven't you ever seen Suits or Mad Men?

A block with a hole in it? Who wouldnt ?

It looks more like a bar with a slot (for letters), as well as a pen hole. If I was making just a handful of them, and factored in the lot charge for anodizing, I don't think my price would be much less.

You got to realize that We are not their target market, We make stuff, their customers don't, so We are just aggravated We didn't think of it and market it. These kind of products still amaze me that someone would buy it, not to mention more than one person.

The thing I have to remember is that if it weren't for people that can't make stuff, I wouldn't have a business/income, so I try to cut them some slack.

I like how they state they use manual machines and processes that have been around forever, that just means they are using the worn out junky mill they bought off the scrap man per pound and have a tiny amount of overhead.

I'll never understand the class warfare that goes on around here...I have no need for one either, but is this thing really any different than dragging home some rusty old garage sign from the swap meet and nailing it to the wall of your garage? They're both just silly accessories to have around the house. It's a matter of personal taste.

I think I'll take bid on this. It will hold 12 pens, or pencils, or whatever fits into a 1/2" hole, then in the center I have it holding a small flashlight. Knurled around the outside, and felt pads on the bottom. 4 1/2" in diameter and 1 7/8" in height. Made the "Old School" way with an older but still usable drill bit, a reamer, and turned and knurled by hand in a lathe that was probably 30 years old. Opening bid $100 :rocker: Time to make it from digging the scrap out of the scrap barrel to completion....30-45 minutes.

Seriously you could probably get it if you showed it in the right place.
Have a look at Etsy and see the prices they charge for stuff on there.
