I have a lawn mower roller that blew out a bearing I have got the seal out but I can't for the life of me get this race out. I don't think a bearing puller will work as there is not really a shoulder on the back side to grab. Any ideas?

Weld a bead on the inside of it, that will shrink it and be easier to knock out. When it is hot drop it on the end on something hard(concrete, steel plate) to loosen it so you can get something behind it, done this several times.

This ^^^ Stick welder will reach right in there. Run a bead around the inner circumference of the race.

I like the weld idea but if you do not have the means to do that do you have room to get a Dremel in ther to cut it then pry up with a small driver or chisel ?

Thanks. I tried using a small torch but no dice. I will try welding tomorrow when I get home from work. I have a MIG and a stick welder so one should get up in there.

Also my dremel seemed to have grown legs so nice dice there. Thanks for all the replies!

Ps. Stick of gum, toothpick, match head, can't forget Swiss army knife. You can make anything just ask MacGyver

When you said "small torch" were you talking about a propane torch, or oxy/acet? I think if you heated a bit of it up cherry red, then cooled it, it would come out.

I've removed clutch pilot bushing from flywheels without a puller by packing them full of grease and smacking a slightly smaller punch into the inner diameter of the bushing to create the hydraulic force to push it out. A slide hammer might work or a stud gun to pull dents.

You can take a thick washer that is the same size as the race, grind it flat on 2 sides so you can slide it in behind the race, then set it flat against the race. If you put a bolt inside as you do this, you can attach a slide hammer, piece of chain etc.. to the bolt and yank it out. You could even make a pipe sleeve with a larger washer and nut to pull it out. Although I can't tell from the pic if the race is enough smaller than the tube inside to catch the washer?
