Wife wanted to go to the mall so went back to Sears. 75% off so 10 bucks for it all. 31 inch pry bar completes my set. That little light is awesome! Framing square will be handy for welding.

New impacts arrived today :willy_nil

Way better than the Craftsman evolv deep-wells I had. I was so content until I came to this site
What did those run? There's a guy selling that set when the flea marker comes around and he's had them a while. Just wondering if his price is in left field
Edit: that's set 4053. $187 on amazon. So ya, that guy at the flea market is way out there in left field.

Flea market guys can be crazy  I got them for about that on eBay and had a $30 coupon that I had to burn. I wanted to get them on SK day, but I'm taking back the China man ones and that would leave me without impact sockets.

I should save some $$$ for the last flea market and see what happens. I imagine lugging that set around gets old. He always says $250 but today I'll let it go for $225. Maybe its sae, I forget. Which ever set, its all inclusive like yours.

It just looked different. Pieces placed at different spots and such. Otherwise everything is same.

I think they just changed the case and made it more compact, since the red one takes up way more space in the toolbox than it needs to. I don't really care since I just work out of my garage these days and don't need it locked up. Actually, I kind of prefer the extra compartments so I can keep a wrench, ujoint adapter, whatever in there.

I took my own advice and finally bought the Mercedes hook tool. Actually, I asked my buddy at the garage to order me a couple, he did and gave them to me!

Got a drill press vise this morning. The box looked really beat up so they marked it down to $30 from $99.

I guess I better start shopping for a drill press now.

Yeah mine just doesn't have 23 (I think). Is it used? If it was used I'd only pay ~$100. Last time I went to the flea market the guy had four racks of Snap-On sockets. He wanted $110 per rack. Not awful I guess, but they were really dirty, and I wasn't sure how they'd clean up. I told him I couldn't make any money at that price, and he replied that he didn't deal with resellers. I talked him to death and walked away with them for $200 total  Too bad they're SAE.

Well the wrapping is off
..may not be used persé, but technically

From Lowe's $19.99, may not be the best brand but still does the job in my book!

Proto ? If my mind serves me well, where from and how much. Love the colored grips.

Blackhawk by Proto technically. Just got them from eBay for the two long reach pliers on the far left and far right. $30 shipped.

Excellent build quality and jaws line up great. USA made. I'm sure the cutters are just as good and probably very solid by the looks of it.

Picked up this PDR3000 3/8 air drill off kijiji for $60! Barely used. Guy wanted $100 so I think I got a pretty good deal. Have always preferred air drills over cordless as they're so much lighter and compact. Plus we only have the one cordless shop drill so saves me going looking for where the last person left it!

Well technically you could buy your own cordless drill also, just as you bought this air drill. Definitely looks like you got a nice unit there though.

Yep I sure could have and probably would have in the next while but would have spent probably $200 on one so when this popped up it made sense!

Hello folks, first post. Hope it's in the right place.

I stumbled across this lathe thru a guy at work. It spent its whole life in the fleet repair facility for the City of Dayton, Ohio. It was setup to turn armatures for starters and generators and by looking at the wear, appears that it was the only function it ever served. There were no chips ever made on this lathe or at least I couldn't find any evidence of it. Sadly, when it was retired, the new owner (a City of Dayton employee) took it home and left it sit uncovered outside for who knows how long. Fortunately, the sixty plus years of oil and grime protected it from certain death. When I went to pick it up, the chip pan was full of water and all of the tooling stored in plastic pans was submerged in a rusty broth.

It included a 3 and 4 jaw chuck, steady rest, follow rest, spindle adapter for 5C collets, micrometer stop, multiple tool holders and boring bars as well as the "mica cutter" for resurfacing the armatures. The only piece it is missing is the drawbar for the collet adapter. That will be my first project on this little beauty. As a bonus, it has a 115 volt, single phase, one hp motor. Even the belts are in excellent condition. It has a really heavy duty stand and setup for a coolant pump. The guy had the original invoice, manuals, parts list and all of its service records... simply an incredible find. And it was free, all I had to do was move it.

I spent the day yesterday reassembling the machine and freeing up everything that had rusted itself together or just gummed up from it's long life. I'm happy to report the damage was minor except for a complete set of Hardinge 5C collets (1/32" thru 1 1/8" by 1/64" increments ) that are too far gone to save, what a shame. The ways have some surface rust pitting that will in no way compromise it's precision or functionality. With a little work, lots of WD40 and shop towels, both chucks are now operational and work like the day the made. Next week I will tackle the painted surfaces with de-greaser as it looks like it too will also cleanup nicely. Some Scotch Brite to polish up the bare metal surfaces will hide the fact it was at one time, almost junk.

I am overjoyed with my little Logan lathe that will hopefully see many years of service in it's new home. There's also a sense of satisfaction that I was there to rescue this wonderful tool from an untimely death and give it another 50 plus years of life. It's too fine of a machine to be turned to scrap and that was certainly where it was headed had it not found its way into my garage. A couple of photos.
