Same thing with the HD utility knifes. Holly shiat they are 99 cents a piece and that's list price. How the **** can they make that, ship through the Atlantic, put it on the shelf, and still make a profit?

Here in Washington (state), I've noticed many of the Home Depots closing out their Irwin products. They must be switching brands (similar to the recent Bessey to Irwin conversion at Lowe's). Unfortunately I haven't had any of the great deals. :(

Locally for me Irwin's stuff is already off the shelves. Nothing or very little to be found

Probably DeWalt and Milwaukee. From what I've seen of Milwaukee's other hand tools it may be a step up from Irwin.

If it's milwaukee, I believe their locking pliers are halfway decent. If it's DeWalt, their design was supposedly scraped until further notice, but they are a Taiwan grip on clone with a beefier double lock or something like that (or were supposed to be).

Shelves are full of Milwaukee stuff around me already, I didn't see any Irwin. I didn't play with any of the Milwaukee pliers but they looked similar to the Irwin stuff.

Wednesday I stopped in Kirksville MO and bought 3 of the sets of 2 ($4 each) and 4 of the long nose for $2.79......and a few of the regular jawed for $2.79.

A ton of locking pliers for very little money. I have WAY to many pliers.

So these scan at all stores at clearance prices? I saw a couple of pairs of Irwins on a clearance endcap but they were still tagged at $13 so I left them. I might have to drop by HD again tomorrow and see if these are really on sale and no one knows it...

Thanks for verifying this - I dropped by this afternoon and picked up the 9LN and although they were plastered with a giant price tag with the "clearance" price of $12 (down from $13) they did indeed scan at $2.79 each.

I also learned that at the self-checkout line before you start checking out you can instead select "Price Check" and scan stuff yourself to check the price. I am probably the only guy that didn't know this trick but I find it's useful to be able to check prices yourself at HD.

I've been lurking for a while so I guess I'll use this as my introduction. I stopped by HD today and was able to hit their clearance rack. Total price: $60.40

Stopped by my local store, at first I thought I was too late and then I found some of the two packs and 1 pair of the long nose in the "clearance" corner.

Is chinese Milwaukee or Dewalt any better than chinese Irwin?

DeWalt never released theirs. When Milwaukee beat them to market at HD, they just said "eff it" and stopped.

The Milwaukees are from Taiwan. The searching I've done makes it look like no one on GJ has admitted to using them. They seem A LOT nicer than Chinese Irwins, but I was just playing with them at the store.

Those Chinese Irwins sure were garbage. I'm happy they lost their contract. Maybe that'll convince them to put the folks at the original factory back to work making vise grips people actually want.
