Nice haul Rick Some good vintage Craftsman and S-K there.

Here's my small haul from last week.

Craftsman punch- broken
Craftman 13x 15 box wrench
Starret punch
Walden 1/2" spintite
Proto Pro. 8" adjustable

On the right some oddball drivers. What are these from?:

Acurrate Ind. Miami, Fl nut driver? black piece in the center spins. I know I've seen these before. Has patent #3,298,2 ?

Original "Isolux"5000v. FIAT- SAT-A-50006, it has a slotted opening. Looks some someone ground flats around the end for wrench turning.

Hit a few estate sales with my buddy Thursday.

First one had quite a bit of tools, picked up a few goodies for decent prices.
Small Channelocks, Craftsman C-underline miter gauge for tablesaw, Crown label offset screwdriver and Router bit case with bits, 4 Craftsman wrenches, chisel, V-selector 1/2 ratchet, Crescent adjustable, Husky 1/4 spinner with the female rive in the head, Indestro 1/2" breaker bar, Milwaukee hole saws, Snap On scratch awl, part of a Stanley plane, railroad anvil, first aid kit and Wilton made in USA utility vise. $58 total

Second one was higher priced and not much tools but still found some goodies.
2 Kraueter pliers, 2 Herbrand adjustable wrenches, Craftsman Vanadium pliers and Vanadium screwdriver, USA black/yellow screwdriver, S-K Tools #3 Phillips, new wire brush. $12 total.

Flea market I picked up an old cash out counter, grocery store? Thinking about using it for a bar. $55

After my buddy left I hit a few pawn shops.

1st one Snap On ratcheting screwdriver, Craftsman USA made router bits, 1 3/4" 3/4 drive socket AND a decent working 1/4HP round top block grinder. $44 total

2nd one Proto 3/4 ratchet that needs a rebuild kit, $5.

Wow! Really like the counter. You have some great finds and you **** on the counter.

Two "stops" today. One was a CL ad that I had a co-worker take care of yesterday ,it was on his side of the metro area. $40 netted me a Snap On SHBB24 breaker bar and 4 yellow handled screwdrivers.

I got to finish painting the girls bedroom so the tools will have to wait some more. Why did they pick one wall to be pink, one wall to be purple, one wall to be white and one wall to be chalk board black????:lol_hitti:willy_nil

Because you'll paint it that way for her - Dad!

I have the remnants of 4 quarts of pastel paint from doing the same in my daughters room some years ago (purple, pink, light teal and blue I think). She moves into her college dorm this Saturday so enjoy doing things for them while you can!

To keep this on topic - I picked up 2 left rakes at the curb last night during our monthly bulk pickup cycle. I have 5 or 6 shovels and a few rakes to sell at my garage sale in 2 or 3 weeks - if they sell for $3.00 each I'm ahead of the game.

Jim: are left rakes different than right rakes? :lol_hitti

Rick: i thought you might have made an average purchase until i saw more pictures of a full tool box that wasn't in the first two pictures. nice haul

ALL: i used to paint the kid's bedrooms with my bride until they were teenagers. if their color plan and cleaning skills were approved by us we bought the paint, closed the doors and let them paint. have you seen semi gloss red vertical stripes next to red satin stripes in a girls bedroom? my daughter did it with great care and then put up some pretty nice pictures when she was 15. when she moved out we painted it tan. it did take a few coats to cover.

ES#1 - garage check out ($3.50)
-CM oiler
-CM socket magnets
-KD bolt out
-Hansen bolt out
-small roll of alum tape
-drafter's eraser stencil ??
-X-Acto set

ES#1 - inside check out - box containing ($5)
-2 x 6" scales
-General "caliper"
-2 x files (looks new)
-scribe (Japan)
-file (yellow handle, UK)
-old looking flathead
-very small file
-cigarette holder (gold cylinder)

ES #2 ($1)
-12" B & S
-12" Lufkin
-tack puller
-chisel
-vent brush

The two 12" scales have some pretty decent corrosion pits.
The X-Acto set is pretty nice. All marked USA.
The little magnets are NOS. You lose the thru hole or decrease the depth of a socket, but I guess if you need it magnetized you need it.
Both bolt out sets look unused...albeit dirty.
Hope the oiler doesn't leak!
The cig holder is kind of a neat, but not something that I need.

Picked up an interesting book at a local thrift shop today. Looks like one of those old cookbooks in a binder - but a far more interesting subject. Its the Better Homes & Gardens Handyman's Book. Very interesting sections on tools, how to use and maintain them. Have a look at some samples . . .

I've had that for years. It has taught me alot.... I think. Some of the outdated sections are pretty funny. Do you plan on building a outdoor BBQ out of bricks any time soon? ;)

Hmmm, "Something you put things in" and 5 letters:

That leaves off:

SO
Craftsman
Kennedy
MAC
Equipto
Lyon
Vidmar

Matco is a possibility, but I'm going with Lista, if for no other reason than Linda is hot... :pimpflash

Snagged a few smalls today. Three of the tiniest PONY clamps I've ever seen, a hand made hacksaw and a =CRAFTSMAN= 1/4" drive handle/ extension. I especially like the saw, made by a machinist with a lot of skill.

I was in california(from georgia) for the goodguys west coats nationals this past weekend and couldn't help but hit a few sales.

From garage sales
Yamaha and ford wrenches from $1

Not pictured a 1/2 to 3/4 williams adapter $1

From the swap meet at the car show
Extra thin 2426 proto and 1232 proto/plvmb lawsuit wrench $4.
The guy wouldn't sell them to me for $7. I sent my girlfriend back, told her what to look for, she dug them out and got them for $4.

1216 proto professional $1

The new flush slip joint pliers from wilde (8" version) brand new $8

I thought I had done good until I found out the hard way that you can't carry tools over 7" in your carry on luggage. Had to pay $25 to check my bag. Didn't have time to mail them.

Back in Georgia
otc breaker bar(is that the correct name for this tool?) and cool adjustable size auger bit(no name that I could see) $1

I found this on craigslist for $45. Not a steal, but it beats buying new. A couple years old and hardly used. Came with extra bags. The cats like it...for now.

random thursday yard sale score for me...

Brown & Sharpe 6" dial calipers, made in Switzerland, in funky orange pleather case. Dial is off a bit, but the calipers are in good shape otherwise, and very very smooth.

I also got this vintage box of 20 Winchester Silvertip .308 180gr rounds

grand total: $8 :rocker:

Nice score on the B&S callipers. not sure how the dial is off, can't you just zero the dial and go? The rest is rack and pinion along the track in the groove of the rule.

Dave the dial looks fine - that set screw on the bottom of the crystal bezel is for zeroing the caliper. loosen, twist. and tighten (Make sure the caliper faces are clean and closed...)

Nice score on both! ammo ain't cheap anymore!

Scored at an estate sale this morning. Got there 15 min after opening and was the 2nd person.

$5 For the old GE fan. Works great but the "guard" on it is a joke. You can fit your whole hand into the blades!

$1 Akro Mills cabinet with a door to keep the drawers closed when carrying it.

.50 each for the Nicholson file and "Waterson's" tack hammer.

And a free Sears rebranded Coleman lantern. Turns out it was full of regular unleaded gas instead of white gas coleman fuel.

And some free bread pans. Good for sorting/cleaning parts.

Very nice haul, thanks for sharing, especially the fan and the hammer.
Are you sure it's not leaded gas?

It may be leaded gas. It smells like fresh gas though. Probably tried to light it and when it burned all sooty and crazy they assumed it was broken and sold it.

Yup, now they need big warning labels and government regulations to keep people from doing stupid things...and that still don't work half the time...the dumbing down of society :(

I really like that fan, if I were to use it, I would do something to ensure that any children, pets, et al would be protected from having some part of their bodies being damaged.

It can only get you if you put your finger/paw/dingaling in from the back. From the front, the blades are at an angle that will deflect and do no harm. It seriously takes an idiot to hurt themselves on one but they do look dangerous.

BTW, nice fan and that's the first Akro I have seen with a front door.

Today was an early Estate Sale and a late Yard Sale. I showed up 10min late to pick up a number this morning. Ususally when that happens I end up with a number in the 80's. This morning I was #1 !! :rocker: First time I've ever had that number. And then when they opened the garage, I saw the **** they were calling tools.

It was one toolbox (a 70's All-American 3-drawer made by Waterloo that I don't have room for) filled with chinese **** and trash. The prices were really high, they wanted $100 for the box without the tools.
Still, I walked out with a few things

Pic 1 - they wanted $16 but I got him down to $12
2 gallons of -50 RV Anti-freeze (I'm closing my camp next week)
SnapOn SSD8 screwdriver (w/poorly reground tip)
Great Neck 14" bolt cutters (w/chewed up edges)
and a homemade Dolly (?), Plug Punch (?), Pipe expander (?) ?????????

The YS started at 4pm, I figured that nobody would be looking for it on a friday afternoon. When I showed up at 3:55, the place was already packed.

Pics 2-3 - $7
2 safety floats (for my canoes)
Snapit voltage tester

It's a slow start to the long weekend, but at least I won't be shut out this week. :dunno:

There was a 50% chance of rain today and a 80% tomorrow, plus it's a holiday weekend so sales will be slim around here. :(

The Waterston's stamped tack hammer above is interesting. For many years, there was a store here in the Detroit area called Waterston's that sold precision tools. I wasn't aware of the hammers 'til now. There was plenty of call here for magnetic tack hammers in the auto industry when the bodies and seats were framed with wood, and the trimmers were known as "tack-spitters" because they'd get a mouthful of tacks and use the magnetic end of the hammer to fetch the tacks out as they worked on the upholstery.
