Going to put in a few metal gates, learning about rust-prevention. Are there any opinions on galvanizing metal vs. Aluminum-Zinc metalization?
Old fashioned hot dip galvanize is hard to beat but can be costly. Also, powder coating works well, but is also expensive.
... Also, powder coating works well, but is also expensive. ... I suppose it will come down to what the budget will bear.
To clarify, I'm planning to put $3-$4k into new gates for my yard, so I'd like them last a bit. They'll be close to a lawn sprinkler system too which is why I'm looking into the rust prevention.
I think we're considering getting the gates galvanized, but there's this aluminum zinc metallization process that some people talk about, and I didn't know if the extra cost of metallization over galvanizing was worth it.
