This past week at work the Snap-On guy comes through. Went out to his truck and he showed me this deal they had on impact sockets. At work, we don't need impact sockets, but I had been wanting some for home for awhile. This was the deal.

That is a promo from SFC. Best pricing you will see in a long time on those sockets.

Thanks for the responses, guys. Do you recommend having 3/8" impact sets for home? I know I'll use the half, but unsure if the 3/8" sets are necessary? Thanks again.

Necessary, no, but they can come in handy. I borrow a friends on occasion. I'd really like to try one of those compact 1/2" guns, I think between that and a short 1/2" socket set a non pro could get alot done.

BTW, I was just joshing you on the HF comment.

Haha no offense taken at all on the HF comment. I shop there on occasion. Some stuff just can't be beat. Which compact 1/2 gun are you referring to?

Yes. He was able to get me a deal on a 1/4" Techwrench at the show. He said that's where this deal came from. Hoping for more deals soon.

I've been thinking pretty hard about getting a Klutch, they are usually < $100.

I have a strip of 3/8 impact mm sockets. I sure like having them around. Sometimes you don't need 900ft of torque, but still want to use an impact. They are snap on. Aside from a little surface oxidation, they are great. I heard the HF's don't rust

I see one on Northern tool for $89.99. Looks pretty compact. Something to look into.

May pick up a set if I can ever get them cheap enough. Then I'll have to buy a 3/8" gun as well. Currently don't have air at the house, so I'm using a 1/2" Milwaukee Fuel HO Impact. Love it so far.

I found mine on craigslist for 35 or 40 bucks I think. It is a 8-19 mm shallow. That set is just enough for me.

good deal! don't listen to these guys about the hf sockets.. I have snap on impacts and HF. The hf ones work fine BUT, the nut / screw always gets stuck in them! Its a pita to keep a hammer and punch next to me and hammer out almost every fastener you remove. The Snap on ones don't have this problem. I payed more for my snap on ones.. All I have from S.O is the two large sets of shallow sockets in sae and metric.

That's about a steal. I'll have to keep my eyes on the look out. I check eBay pretty often for a lot of things.

Definitely happy I bought the SO. That'd get old very fast having to remove every fastener that way. Hoping I won't need any more sizes than what I got. If I do, I guess I'll buy them as needed.
