I kind of got skunked today. I picked up a gas can with one of the good style of nozzles, then a box of 8" heavy duty screws for mounting heavy beams.
Then a couple of wrenches and a 1/4 hp craftsman block grinder. Gave $44 for all of it.

Not much going on today. Lot of sales never set up due to the severe weather expected this afternoon.

Got the Chinese bodwork kit for $1. Its brand new but has a lot of surface rust.

The prybar is a Craftsman, Evercraft 1/4" ratchet, Wiss shears, SK and Husky sockets, Easco wrench along with the rusty punch, drawer liner, double sided tape and bucket boss belt pouch.
$4 for it all including a free 5gal bucket to carry it in.

Nice old Motorola AM/FM tube radio and a barometer. Guy says the radio works good but im going to examine the old cloth wiring before powering it up. $5.

The grinder has a little movement to it but it does keep spinning afterwards. I might take it apart and clean it up before i mount it somewhere.

Apparently the going rate on Snap On in Arkansas is 10 cents on the dollar.
Either that or there are alot of mechanics with drug problems. I knew you could dig for diamonds in Arkansas but you seem to be very successful prospecting for rare metals!!

No serious yard-sailing for me and we held our own annual sale. I usually try to get the rest of the street to do a block sale, but got busy and didn't but we actually had 4 other homes that also planned yard sales today, so I stuck a quick Block sale (unplanned ) add in CL just for grins.

Still going on, I've pulled in 80 bucks or so so far...

I did a walk around and picked up a knife and a rifle scope from the neighbors. Pics later

Picked up a MAC VRF wrench that had a 15/16 socket. Remembered seeing some of the new sets from Kobalt and craftsman that were female ratchets. Paid $30 for the wrench at the local auction.

Stopped at Lowe's on the way home and bought the 1/2" drive "xtreme access" quick release adapter and it fits perfectly. Now I can just buy the Kobalt set to fit in there for around $30-40 instead of $20 for each socket from MAC.

IIRC that is a ratchet out of a front end alignment kit.

Yeah I did some research and found that out, but needed metric for most of my vehicles. Hence looking into a cheaper alternative for sockets. Figured the wrench would make a solid female ratchet with a lot of flex.

I assume the square hole in the ratchet handle is to put a male ratchet or breaker bar into?

Slow day today but better than the past several weeks. I spent $22 and got the old Craftsman saw in the case, timing light and set of steel car ramps(not shown).

9AM local garage sale: $60 total (started at $100) for both including tools in every drawer, still all in bins and pics of the tools later.

Top: Snap-On KR-56 w/ tray KTR-1 , 1948
Bottom: Snap-On KRA-378A, 1970 ) with the optional drawers! Yey!

I haven't started cleaning yet and there is the obvious paint and easy rust issues. Surprisingly, the sliders are all intact and are unbelievably smooth full range in and out!

The drawers are all the originals and that silver for whatever reason is just spray paint. I thought it was stripped at first (how nice of them to prep it for me) but when I looked at it closer, I wasn't asking anymore questions anyway. I don't care, just needed to get out of there.

Sigh, now I have another one to "restore" and I haven't even really started on the almost same one (one on my sig) I found this July.

I really have to stop buying these boxes.

The Hole Hawg was $5, Tube Caddy was $3 and NIB Zyliss Vise was $7. Are these Zyliss vises usefull??

P1030956.jpg

A couple 1.5HP, 1750 RPM, TEFC dual voltage motors for $20/ea:

P1030958.jpg

A hodgepodge 3/8" socket set consisting of SK, Blackhawk, CM and Thorsen. The Blackhawk ratchet is pretty fine tooth for being an oldie. The set was only $1.

P1030957.jpg

I'm giving myself a "you ****" but it's not what you think. It's for the stupidest buy of the weekend. I was excited to see this NIB Mitutoyo Digimatic Indicator and forked over the $45. Later I discovered this thing requires an external power supply and expensive proprietary data cable which renders it pretty useless.

Thanks Rmalkow, it's going on the shelf of projects

Marc, sweet box!!

Dave, cool vise and don't sweat that Mitutoyo, you can get your money back and maybe make a lil if you sell it at the bay. ;)

 at the tube caddy. What are your plans for it out of curiosity? My grandfather has an entire battery of them from every brand (TV and radio repair career). They seem, uhm, not the most useful these days. :dunno:

Great find and price. I'm curious why did you negotiate them down?

You know, in a garage/estate sale situation I never ever ever go for the first price even if I know it's already a good deal. This is just good practice for anyone who buys things at sales.

Fair deal< good deal < best deal (optimal) < free is the ultimate.

In this situation I actually felt I could have even gotten away with $50 cause nobody else was even asking about the box the whole 30 mins I was there and I'm sure the folks wanted to clear out as much as they can already. At $60, I punched him to add whatevers in the boxes which I thought he really didn't want to do but again nobody else was looking at the box.

Why? I'm just trying to understand the thought process/mindset of people like you. Everyone has to eat, no? :dunno: If they had $50 from the start, would you have offered even less?

Yes, if it was $50 from the start I would have come in at $25.

Yes everyone has to eat and you can really eat a plenty for the $60 that they got from these boxes.

You need to understand, this is not a business or retail situation but a cleaning out all this **** from their garage and getting something for this is better than Goodwill.

I disagree, after immense study of folks like yourself I truly think it is a power trip mindset of the buyer. I could be wrong, but :dunno:

Either which way you got a very nice set of boxes and tools for a great price.

Ey people don't have to sell if they don't want to. I don't have to buy if they don't want me to. You only get a deal like this if both parties say yes. Nobody's forcing anybody to sell for cheap.

One day, when you pass on, somebody like me would probably come a knocking and talk your wife or kids down for all that **** that's in your garage. Guess what, she'll say yes and have somebody like me do her a favor and clean out your junky stuff.

Picked these up the other day. Snap-on torque meter kit in a metal box, kinda cool - I couldn't just leave it there! The universals are Easco USA in metric and the Snap-on 3/8dr 6pt deep set are from a guy who advertised a huge machinists tool sale. The C-Man V rat is a 1/2dr in really nice shape for it's age. Got a good deal on the Starrett punch's because it was missing two.... I'm hoping I have the missing ones in the garage somewhere.

I ALMOST always ask for a deal, most of the time, prices are just "asking price". Worst they can say is no, if it's still a good deal I buy, if not I pass and let the next sucker pay more or they can pack it back up and keep it. Can't tell you how many times I have packed my **** back in cause people didn't want to pay, almost as many times as people have asked for a deal and we settle. No harm, no foul

That saw I picked up today was marked $10, I bought the ramps at the $10 asking price and asked if they would throw the saw in for $5, lady was happy to sell and I could see her old man was happy he didn't have to put that **** back in the garage, WIN-WIN. The timing light was from another sale, no price marked so I asked, the man said $10, I went $5 and we settled on $6 but all I had was a $10 and all he had was $3 singles, I ended up paying $7 and we were both happy. That's how the system works, this ain't walmart or sears, it's back yard dickering

Nothing much today, I actually passed on a 8" Craftsman table saw with the heritage logo. it had the fence and miter slide with a motor. I just rather get one that will handle all i want to throw at it.

Here is what I got, SK wrench, Klein needle nose pliers, channellock410, and a few locks. Oh and BMW wrench!

Is that brass one a real ammo can lock?
