I have an A.0. Smith motor and it is spinning backwards. The information on the motor is it's a 1 phase motor, 230v, cat #v208 (the model with 3 capacitors not the M2 with only 2 capacitors), frame A184T, Part 355865-01-OJ. How can I go about getting it to spin the correct direction? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just realized that at the bottom it says to reverse change 1 and 4.... but which of them are one and 4? Are those the wires going to the capacitors or the leads coming out of the motor?

Look carefully. Usually the number is stamped on the insulation of the wires.

Leads coming out of the motor that the power is tied to. Either the wires are marked directly or there might be small tags on them. Be sure to throw the power before opening it up...

So would those be the wires going to the capacitors? It would those wires be going to something else in the motor

Open the junction box where the wires go into the motor. You should find the lead in wires wire nutted to a bunch of wires coming out of the motor. under those wire nuts you should find 1&4. change so 1&4 are in the opposite bunch of wires, keeping all else the same. Maybe give us a GOOD picture of what is in the junction box with the wires pulled out a bit so we can see the numbers on them. You should not have to pull the cap covers.

Went out and opened up the junction and sure enough the wires were all labeled. Switched 1 and 4 and boom... All is well! Thanks a lot for the advise!
