Got some general pictures after a little rearranging of the one corner after getting one of the new Harbor Frieght 20 Ton shop presses for my next project. I picked up a Harbor Frieght tool cart for a good deal off a friend of mine, it really expanded my tool storage and work space. The black and decker workmate I scored for $10 at a yard sale.

My next project on the civic. A full suspension bushing set and a rear strut. Not a cheap repair being as I had to buy a press to do it but I'll come out on top in the end. Certainly beats having a car payment.

I'm finally in a position to start working on wiring up the place how I want. First thing was to remove all the wood left from the previous owners in the rafters.

as well as the ceiling fan that was wired with an extension cord.

resulting in an empty looking ceiling.

I have also worked on moving the insulation that was on the roof to the walls, it ended up being enough for more than 50% of the walls. The plan is to box in the ceiling (I'm sure there is an actual term for that..) to keep the heat down in the working space in the winter.

The source of the wood for the ceiling and walls will come from some military grade shipping containers. My dad and I tore a couple apart the other weekend.

I inherited some of my grandfathers tools. I'll try and put them to good use. My grandparents almost always gave me Craftsman tools for christmas because I could use them for the rest of my life unlike toys.

I finally got around to separating the ground and neutrals in panel and got 90% of the electric wired up. 9 quad boxes around the sides and 3 quad boxes up in the ceiling for lighting. While doing that I have also insulated and put up plywood on the walls. There was quite a bit of insulation laying in the rafters when I bought the place. I think I only needed 4 additional rolls to finish up. The plywood was salvaged from old military shipping crates that my dad acquired. Just had to tear them apart.

I have some very old pictures of the process.

I have quite the mess since I had to remove everything I had on the walls and rip out the work bench, but its getting better slowly. The hanging shelving really worked out great. Luckily the WRX is out getting a retune so I've havent had to work around it. I hope to have the rest of the insulation and plywood up by the end of the week. I would love to start working on a work bench this weekend. I have some nice 1" plywood for the top, not that I have any sort of plan as to how I want it setup.

I am doing the same thing with my shop. I am using various pieces of used 3/4 inch plywood as wall covering and I like the way it looks to the point where I may not even paint or stain it.

What are you planning on doing for a ceiling (if anything)? I am kind of stumped on that one and cant use plywood due to weight (trusses) but may use some lightweight white metal panels. (yes I am trolling for ideas!)

Yes I was very fortunate. I hope to put them to good use. :)

I am stumped as well. Being a small garage the storage is very useful, but ***** to try and heat. I'm hoping that maybe just insulating the walls will be enough. A friend suggested hanging a big piece of plastic/tarp, but I'm not sure how I feel about that idea.
