Modding a old school ratchet

I have a MAC xr8pa 3/8 comfort grip ratchet. I love it, I actually bought it about a month ago for $8 with a rusted siezed head. I disassembled the head and soaked in evapo-rust over night. Next they I cleaned all the parts and reassembled using marvel mystery oil as lube. Ratchet works perfect!

I love this ratchet but its only 30T. My question: Is there anyway to fit a head kit off a newer higher tooth MAC ratchet in there?

Yeah. Hate to give a guy a hard time for saving an old tool but I was thinking more like $8 for a seized up ratchet.

That gold plated one you linked is only 40 bucks... and it isn't seized up.

His must be made of unobtainium

$80? That's outrageous....I wouldn't pay that much for a brand new one, much less one I had to repair.

Maybe it was a mistake guys, the zero is relatively close to the eight..

..but onto your actual question. I have no idea what your ratchet looks like on the inside, but if it has teeth machined into the ratchet body (like a typical SK), I would say no. If there's a mechanism in there that does it's thing, I would say it's possible. I've only ever had to take a part one ratchet, and it wasn't my fault. Either way, it's still a cool ratchet, you'll just have to remember what jobs it is and isn't good for.

I'm sure there is, it might require a couple of hundred dollars in machine work though. I could install and 80 tooth snap on head in a soda can if I wanted. That doesn't mean it is practical or a good idea.

$80 for that? Dear lord. I've got a bunch of stuff to sell you.
