I think this Grey Pneumatic set has every size between 10 and 36 mm except 31. Grey has the same set (sizes) in deep 12 point and standard and deep 6 point, I think. Unless you have a specific application that calls for 12 point, you may find that 6 point sockets fit your connectors better.

Trying to buy individual sockets to fit everything you come across will be expensive, time consuming, and frustrating. Even with the set listed above, there will be times you need deep sockets in some of those sizes. You really need a deep and shallow set.

This is a list I found while looking for tools needed to work on a 2012 Scion. Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology has a program to train Toyota/Scion/Lexus technicians to work at dealerships. Page 13 in the above link has the tools that OSU says the students will need in the course.

Only 12 point fasteners I've come across were Jeep head bolts (13mm), Ford driveshaft bolts (12mm), and some Toyota CV axle nuts (30mm). Buy them individually as you need them, very rarely will you find 12 point fasteners anymore.

A lot of performance fasteners(ARP, etc..) are 12pt.

Some flex plate to crankshaft bolts are 12 point fastners.The 4L80E has two bolts that are a 12 point 3/8.Rod cap nuts in the 3100 and 3400 GM engines are a 12 point 13mm.

90% or more of the impact work will have no need for 12 pt. Buy good quality 6 pt and if you have a need for a impact 12 pt, get it, I'll bet you never need one.

Another vote for Grey Pneumatic you can not beat them for the value.

Proto has USA made standard and deep 12 point impact in 1/2" drive.
In 3/8" drive, the 12 point is available only as impact swivels.

I just picked up a 19mm sunex for a VW 2.0 Crank bolt, it did its job. I did consider the proto thin wall, but it would have been twice the cost, and I will probably only use it once in a blue moon.

I was talking to the snap on guy about 12pt impact sockets, he said that the guys who do a lot of work on diesel engines use a lot of them & they get worn out quick too.

I have Matco 3/8's drive 12 points in metric and SAE. They are great.

Duramax crank pulley is 36mm 12PT.

My experience is as a general duty line tech. I only saw regular vehicles, nothing exotic.

You only see those sort of fasteners on modified engines/vehicles, and rarely do those need general repairs that a neighborhood tech would see. ARP does sell their hardware in hex head style as well.

Yeah working on the newer diesels you will run into them. I bought the matco adv set of 3/8 shallows for flex plate bolts mostly. They were cheap and warrenteed forever through matco. 12point impacts if used alot wear out quick

I just ran into this problem. I have armstrong 3/8 shallow 8-22mm. I have proto 1/2 10-24mm and 30mm and 32mm shallow. I could not find a US manufacturer (other than snapon) that makes 1/2 deep 12 pointers, so I went with grey pneumatic. I bought the 29-39mm axle nut set. All these are 12 point impact sockets.

I need them for honda head bolts, clutch, and flex plate bolts. I just started at a Toyota dealer so I needed them for axle nuts too and I'm sure there are more applications I haven't seen yet on those. 12 point fasteners are somewhat common so it pays to get some good sockets.
