Racedeck Cleaning/Warranty Question

Does anyone know if racedeck would warranty some flooring? They claim they will agains Petroleum Stains.. Nearly 225 of my 500+ Tiles appear to be stained.

Back Story... I installed the Silver/Black Racedeck back in 2006. FF to 2012 and My house was hit by Hurricane Sandy. My garage was filled with a few feet of water totaling vehicles and my flooding my entire house. When the flood came in I had a Oil Catch basin which was filled at the time waiting to be dumped at a local area. When the water invaded my garage the entire catch basin ended up under water essentially having about 10 quarts of oil rise up and back down through my whole garage. Back in 2012 I had to do the Ripout of both my house and garage within 24 hours to eliminate any mold issues. Entire garage was ripped out sheetrock flooring, doors and such. Dried out and put the contents of my house in the garage for the ripout of the house.

After Being homeless for about 14 month 2014 Insurance finally paid to fix the house... Well partially. when you get 3k for a kitchen well you can see i was mostly out of pocket on the repairs. Then I was able to Move back about 3 months ago (yes homeless for 20 months)

Today... Garage was finally emptied of house contents and redone (Sheetrock, insulation, garage doors, siding, Drylok, and more.

I have spent the last 3 nights Vigorously scrubbing my silver racedeck tiles and they still have a Yellow tint to them from the oil. I have tried, Soaps from Car-dish washing, Simple Green Industrial, Zep, Oxi Clean, Nearly everything i could think of except Bleach.


Will racedeck honor a warranty for a large quantity? I am guessing they would mostly get calls for a few tiles. But this is a much larger scale issue.

So your tiles were submerged in contaminated salt water for how long?

Water was in/out in under an hour

I surely sympathize, but I don't see how Racedeck can be responsible for the condition of their tiles after a disaster like that. The floor was not cleaned for two years afterward, and I realize you were homeless and so on, but, still, RaceDeck's problem?

I don't want to sound like a jerk or anything, I just don't see it. Good luck on getting everything in your life back together, though.

Steve thats why i posted here. Since i am at a stage where this is my next step. When looking at over 200k in damage to your house, the flooring was not at the top of my mind right after the disaster. But if I dont ask and just spend more money that is still going toward repairs then I wouldnt ever know.

You didnt sound like a jerk, but my original question was related to their claim that their products dont stain from petroleum products. This spill just happened to take a while to be thoroughly cleaned. I did do a quick soap/mop it right after but I didnt sit there and go tile by tile the way i am now. I guess that part didnt come through, but I couldnt even walk around the garage at first with how slimy/slippery it was and had to give it a quick once over just to be able to get everything out before i could get the floor up.

Ok, I can see how difficult all this is. My wife and I are going through something though not as bad as your situation. [In fact, due to the worst fires in Colorado [recorded] history, our home owner insurance has now been canceled, as were many others...fingers crossed the place does not burn down......]

Again, good luck. Perhaps RD will make this a special case or something, I don't know. I am not a chemist, and I don't know how to clean up plastics that are stained by petroleum products. If there even is a way. I don't blame you at all for wanting that floor "back to normal" as, like I said, we're going through some things here and there is definitely a desire to get everything "fixed." There is a psychological aspect to it, at least for us.

Why don't you call them and ask them ????????????? They are the only ones that can actually answer your question.

I personally would not expect them to do anything given the cause, but you never know.

Racedeck is a competitor of mine, but I think it is fair to say that they are as fair with their warranty policy as any manufacturer possibly could be. My family in Long Beach went through that storm as well. Insurance companies were not real kind. That said, I would think your floor would be covered under insurance???

May I suggest that perhaps it would be more fair to contact Racedeck1 direct via a private message.

I talked to Racedeck and they were very helpful. Tonight I have to get the exact amount and will be back on the phone with them tmw.

as for insurance... they said it was plastic and not covered.
