Grinding Wheels & Wire Wheels

I have a nice 8" Variable speed grinder need a good source for wheels off the shelf not mail order? I Looked at some at the usual places HD/Blows/Sears but all seem to be of poor quality and cannot get different grit's nor have i found any scotch bright wheels locally?

Maybe check with tooling suppliers (as in ones for Machine Shops)... They usually have HUGE catalogs.

Lee Valley has quality 8" grinding wheels used for sharpening woodworking tools. I believe the stores keep most of the catalogue items in stock, but can't say for certain since I've never been to a store.

Otherwise you need an industrial hardware store or industrial abrasives supplier. Vancouver should have multiple options. Acklands Grainger has stores locations in Vancouver. I don't know if they'd have the wheels on the shelves, but it's the kind of thing they might.

I just bought a Norton wheel for my 6" bench grinder, specifically for sharpening HSS lathe tool bits. Took a bit of looking around the Norton catalogs to figure out what I wanted, but I have been really happy with how the wheel cuts and the finish I get on the tools. Bought through Amazon prime so fast free shipping for me, and the price was inline with other retailers.

Tried Fastenal local ones all have to order they can have it the next day but I cannot check quality. "If I am going to order I would just use the internet and save a bunch mr. sales man!" Any recommendation on quality wheels since i will have to order?

I have 2, 1/2hp 7" bench grinders, a Baldor 7307 and a Delta/Rockwell 23-105

they both use 5/8" ID wheels

my 3/4hp Baldor buffer has 3/4" shafts
