Not to be a wise guy, but why not a much more common 3/8" shank? At 3/4" shank that is a large neck down and thus stress point.

That's a lot of wasted material for them to grind down, so unlikely to find. If you've tried Travers and KBC I have no more suggestions.

What are you trying to do? Cut a flat bottom hole?

OK reading your other thread, I don't think a end mill is what you want. While you can drill with center cutting end mills, it's not an ideal situation especially when you don't need the end profile of the mill at the bottom of the hole (ex. flat or rounded).

I think the drill chuck solution someone else mentioned is a good route for this.

About the middle of the page above is a straight to Jacobs adapter. Would that allow you to use a drill chuck of your choosing to get the job done? Can you show a picture of what you have for a drill chuck and what it interferes with?

In some foggy memory I remember making some collars that had a given outside dia required by the antique drill machine with a pressed in drill bit. We could do the same for you either a pressed in bit or a bit held in with a setscrew to facilitate replacement.

Winner. That's what I have a lathe for!

What's the depth you're trying to drill? I know you were talking about annular cutters, and Hougen makes small diameter annular cutters for sheet metal (up to 1/2"): http://www.hougen.com/downloads/sheetmetal_catalog.pdf . You could either make the adapter described above to hold their arbor, or make a custom arbor to hold the cutter (probably just need to turn down and thread a 3/8-24 stub on the end of some 3/4 stock).

You could make a sleeve that was 3/4 od and 3/8 id that had setscrews to hold the end mill and then put the sleeve and end mill in the spindle.

That.

Also, don't use an end mill in a drill chuck, unless plunge cutting - and even then make sure there's a pilot hole pre-drilled.

Yesterday I had to drill and tap 60 holes in 12' long 1/4" wall steel rectangle tubing. No drill press, so I used the mag drill. I use 3/8-16 screws a lot, so I was looking for a quick solution. No worries, I'll just make a little sleeve. I already ordered a $5 bushing in the size I need. Thanks for all the replies, that's why I love this place.
