IR needs a W7150 replacement, preferably one as powerful as the 2235 gun![]()
Sorry, I can't comment.
The Quiet version is rated at 30 ft-lbs(3%) less than the non-quiet which takes it down to 900 ft-lbs Max / 1300 ft-lbs Nutbusting.
So, for my purposes, it's a power difference that makes no difference. I say that because I don't think I've ever encountered any fastener that would need 1,300 ft-lbs, so the likelihood of one falling into the 1,301-1,330 ft-lb range is microscopic. I'm not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV or online.
Is this new gun QUIETER than the existing quiet tools? I mean, sure, I'm a guy, I like having more power at the ready, but even the 2135 is overkill for me, so if/when I get an impact wrench, noise is going to be a BIG consideration, as will COO and the usual considerations.
Matco was selling IR impacts a few years back, but recently changed manufacturers. What about the older model Matco impacts? My Matco guy told me that Ingersol made their impacts, and that was a big selling point for me. This was probably 4 years ago at the time. It is the older cased composite impact, looks just like Ingersol stuff but with a red Matco case on it.
Sounds awesome.
I love my 2135, might just have to check this one out after it is released.
When is the projected release date?
They'll be available before SEMA so you will definitely be able to check them out at SEMA if you haven't already seen one by that time.
.
can this thing remove honda crank bolts with out using heat or should I step up to a bigger gun?

Wish IR put a anvil stop like snapon..thats the only reason i dont trade my snapon impacts for IR

I can see why the Snap On needs anvil brake. The trigger is horrible, almost like an on/off switch. The IR's trigger is much easier to feather. I use my IR guns enough to know when to let go of the trigger. Spent years with my Snap On MG-series and I still hate the damn thing.
Anyways, let's hear those 2235timax reviews, preferably from someone who used the 2135 gun prior.
Anyone found a source for a new protective boot for the 2235? Will the 2135 boot fit the new gun?
They have one coming out...it is not available yet.
And no, the 2135 boot will not fit....I tried already![]()
fight it against a matco mt2769.
Well, I upgraded to the 2235timax today and I'm excited to see what it'll do. I use a 1/2" impact hard and I need all the power I can get. I even drilled a fresh air fitting for it (pictured next to an un drilled one)
First impressions/observations: it's just slightly bigger than the 2135timax it replaced but not objectionally so. Weight is very close.
I noticed they lowered the max free speed RPM of the air motor to 8500 RPM from the previous gun's 9800 RPM. This is a good thing, it reduces the impacts tendancy to sling lug nuts and wobble sockets across the shop and helps the anvil to slow to a stop faster.
I will be using the piss out of this thing and I should know pretty quick if it's gonna be a worthy replacement to my trusty 2135timax. Our shop air supply and piping is up to the task so it should put out full rated power. Trials begin tomorrow. Take a good look, it'll never look like this again!
Sweet, let us know how it goes today. What method do you use to drill those out? Just a drill press?
Living in the rust belt, I anxiously await some real world experiences!
