info on bell system tool cases

I see some of the guys at work use bell boxes . I've found some newer styles of them , but would like to buy one like this . Does any have info on them ? How old are they ? Or should i use them as a tool box on the job site ? Or should I keep it in the shop ? Love to get one soon . Thanks everyone .

I have two of those theyre great I keep all me electronics and camera repair in them.Progressive fiber in NYC sold them. I boght mine 34 years ago. Saw something reak close in the Jensen catalog.Theyre the standard toolbox on film and tv sets in NYC.Try Jensen

My uncles all worked for what is now Bellsouth. They have a few of these lying around. Maybe I need to check into them....

Looks like you can still buy a case in that style from Jensen (which seems to be part of Stanley now).

They are $140 now. I think they were $65 in the early 1990s when I bought my hard case.

they are quite oldschool. they sell 2 line phones with a switch to select the 2 lines, i wonder if he even knows what voip is.

Here is my tool case. Not as retro as the Bell system cases but my tools are a little heavier than the average phone guy's.

Please excuse the dust. I have not used this one much in a few years.

Jensen's been part of Stanley for years now - maybe 10 or so. It's just recently they changed the name. Stanley bought another company and merged them, or something like that.

If you go to the library and browse old issues of the Bell System Technical Journal, you might find some interesting info on some of the equipment. Not super likely, but possible.
