Safety glasses are an OSHA standard and should not be taken lightly. Try the hammerheads off of snap on's website. I also have a repaired nose lol

What about a full face shield? That will be my next purchase - I have a large melon and usually wear glasses. Difficult to find regular safety glasses that fit.

Garrett Wade has older style German safety goggles with two separate lenses set in metal frames connected by a strap. I don't know whether they would work, but they may work better than the single lens designs that most places carry.

This would be the other good option. The full face shield would also be far safer if you frequently use large grinding and cutting discs.

A full face shield still requires safety glasses underneath. It is considered secondary protection.

I came off a trampoline on my head as a child. It's not visually noticeable, but one side is slightly depressed. Glasses that fit well on one side have the eye lashes brushing the lens on the other. Soak the glasses in hot water to soften the plastic and reshape them as needed, or get wire rimmed glasses. If the boss is making an issue of it, he may be willing to pay for prescription safety glasses with a zero prescription. Last time I checked here, they were about $70 plus whatever coatings you want (polarized, uv, etc) and they're professionally fitted so they're as comfortable as daily wear glasses.

No one should have to "force" you to don proper workplace safety equipment. It should be automatic/second nature on your part. You should feel naked without those glasses on. You only have one set of eyes and I can't imagine a too many more dangerous environments then a tire ship. (pressure = flying objects)

Your boss should build a culture of workplace safety vs force compliance. It works better that way.

OK, sermon is over. There are a gazillion different safety glasses, shields, goggles, options. Go to a store that specializes in safety, maybe even a welding supply store or an optomatrist office and try all the different options.

Be safe!!

Well, his boss may not know that. I'd wear a half shield and see if the boss approves. Other than that some motocross goggles would certainly work but look a little clumsy. I 2nd the idea of visiting an optician and having nice looking safety glasses custom fitted. None of us have a perfect head.

And how about Oakley style wrap arounds? Oakley itself is way too spendy but there are a lot of knock offs. Another option is skiing glasses not too dark, maybe the yellow ones.

Well, I doan know about that....

I am horrible at wearing safety glasses, but the Jackson Nemesis series are starting to change that. They are really comfortable, I hardly notice when wearing them.

These are great. I hate wearing glasses because the damn things usually fog up, but these don't They are super comfortable and reasonably scratch resistant. I buy cases of the "smoke mirror" variety and use them as my everyday sunglasses.

If they are being required by your employer then they will have to pay for them. Like someone who needs prescription lenses you need a special pair. I would visit the optician that is providing the prescriptions and see if they can make a custom pair adjusted pair to fit your face/nose. Yes this is going to be more than a cheap $5 pair of catalog safety glasses.

Go to graingers and try on several pairs. They have a big selection of different fitting glases. I would think a pair with an adjustable nose piece vs the solid ones would work best.

Most Oakley's are ANSI rated.

Call Ryan. No not that Ryan, this Ryan....

http://www.rx-safety.com/

"Robert Phillips and his son, Ryan Phillips - launched Rx-Safety.com in 2001 in Middlesex, NJ, after the Phillips family had already been in the optical industry for almost 100 years. in 2001, the company had four employees (including the owners) and ran only a few jobs a day. Today, our company has grown to over 40 employees and we ship between 100 and 200 packages daily. We are proud of our ability to produce high-quality prescription safety glasses in a timely manner"

They have a huge selection of frames. They offer non-prescription and prescription lenses in polycarbonate and glass (yes, real glass safety rated lenses). They will ship frames for you to try, find one you like, ship it back, and they will put your prescription in it. You could have your local optometrist work with them since your frames may need some adjusting to fit.

Forced to wear em huh....its natural to me. Actually to be honest every pair of glasses I have (Dont wear corrective glasses, when I say glasses I mean sunglasses, shooting glasses, safety, etc) are safety glasses. So even when I'm driving into work I'm wearing safety glasses...playing with the kids outside in the sun...you got it, shaded safety glasses...
There are a million styles out there, something for everyone. Try a bunch on, your bound to stumble upon something that works. I've got a couple pairs which have individually adjustable sides.

Side bonus for me is if my 2 year old rips them off my face and throws em on the ground they arent expensive and take a crazy amount of abuse.

I take PPE a bit seriously...no reason not too.

I am a big fan of the Oakley's. Wear them all the time.

Yes if you're wearing safety glasses all to he time, might as well be nice ones. I hate the $7 ones from the supply places.

I use Oakley's..and I occasionally get called on it -- *tap* "Are those rated for safety?" And I have to pull up Oakley's website and show the guy that they conform to, and exceed ANSI Z87.1 (or whatever) standards, of which OSHA standards on protective eyewear are based.

I smile every time. ;-)

This is what I wear, and I have them all over the garage. Although lately, I am having to wear prescription safety glasses for anything up close. But the Harleys are as comfortable as can be.

One thing about safety glasses anymore, they have some pretty cool styles to choose from instead of the normal black framed glasses from years back. And with the cooler looking styles, it has gotten more people to wearing them instead of bitching about them.

For the OP....when you are forced into wearing something that you are not used to wearing, the first reaction is to complain and buck the system. If you can't wear a stock off the shelf style, an eyecare place will most certainly fix you up. You aren't the only one that has had a broken nose.

Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ with clear lenses. The optical clarity is great (unlike cheap glasses that distort the image) and the frames will not ever fall off your face.

You are welcome.
