Irwin GrooveLock Pliers now DeWalt Push Lock???

I was looking to buy some pliers, went to Home Depot website to check out the Irwin GrooveLock pliers, but they're all discontinued now? Instead, I saw the DeWalt Push Lock pliers that look basically the same as the Irwin pliers. I assume they are the same thing, just different brands. Anyone know about this?

Different manufacturers owned by different companies and everything, so they're different. DeWalt is Stanley. Home Depot no longer has a contract with Irwin, so it's all gone or on clearance.

If you plan on using them a lot buy knipex. Well worth the exra money. Do some research

Those pliers have been out for a year or two. I don't own one, but I do own some other Dewalt pliers. If they are like the other Dewalt pliers, they are OK, but nothing special.

Actually, I have been reading quite a lot about Knipex because of woodstockva's video. I understand that the quality of Knipex is a different league than Irwin, or Dewalt, or Channellock. I'm just a car enthusiast, and work on cars once every few months, or whenever they break down, so I think the non-Knipex will be more suitable for my case. I was just wondering about the quality and ease of use between Irwin and Channellock pliers? They are in the same price range.

Those Irwin's are at Lowes now if you are still looking to buy from a store. Sears carries a selection of them also in the stores.

Water pump pliers are a important tool not only for cars but also around the house so i would invest in quality which lasts a long time. The price difference is not that big between these brands, so choose wisely.

Between Irwin and Channellock, Channellock no question.

But the German pliers are really that much better...

Aahhh...that explains why they don't have the Irwin clamps anymore. All they have is dewalt. There's a big difference in quality.
