I'm exactly the same way with hammers and clamps (I never come across any locking pliers). I've probably accumulated 20 or so new hammers in the past month. I never get around to uploading any pictures to this thread though. Maybe I'll do an end of the year summation some time, ya know, before the 2015 thread is posted.

CONGRATULATIONS, it's twins !

I had a line on a pair of Dake presses, but I couldn't get the guy to commit to a price over the phone. He kept saying "not much". :wtf:

So I went over to take a look. They were used by a guy who built and repaired storm windows and screens. He closed his shop and is moving south. Both have been cut and altered to press and punch the frames together. Before I noticed that they had been milled to fit the attachments I was hoping to cap out at $50, even if it meant only going home with one of them. After looking at them I asked what he wanted for them. He says "$20". I said "each ?". He says "no, for both. I want them gone". I think I sprained my wrist getting a 20 out of my pocket. :D

They're both Dake #001's. Here's some picks of the pair and some closeups of the first one. (#2 will be in the next post)

This one has a triangular attachment for working on the corners of the frames. It was milled to hold the triangle and the front was drilled and tapped for set screws to secure it. It was also milled down the sides to allow for clearance of the material. The arbor shaft was also milled to fit a blade.

Pics of the pair and #1 -

The second press was set up for either cutting or punching the frames. I'm not exactly sure.

It has more rust, but the base hasn't been milled like the first one. The attachment was held on with a pair of hex head socket bolts drilled up from underneath. The glaring issue is that a section of the yoke was cut out for clearance.

When I get around to restoring them I'll take the best parts from one and built from there. The big issue will be deciding which frame to use. I'm worried that the milled out areas will weaken the press if it's used too hard. The first one has the base cut out, and the second has a weakened yoke. I don't expect to over use it, so I may use the second frame. :headscrat

Bluebolt posted a listing on ebay for some anvil plates that should fit on another thread. I bought 2 as soon as I got home. I'll only have to redrill the spindle hole to go from 1/4" to 3/8" to fit these presses.

Here's some pics of #2 -

Picked up these two wall cabinets off CL last week. Both metal and good condition, $20. They just need a new paint job to match the overall garage theme.
cabinets.jpg

Got this 12 drawer Craftsman 26" top cabinet today from an ex-wife who was glad to sell it. Found this through a work friend who is a family member. No one in the family wanted it so now it will match perfectly to the bottom roller cabinet I bought earlier in the summer. I even came with some tools that need to be sorted yet.
12 drawer chest.jpg

Also came home with a working halogen light complete with spare bulb. $10

I went for a 25 dollar hose reel and ended up coming home with the camry loaded to the gills. The guy has literally everything in his full garage for sale. ( sorry for the clutter in the photos, tearing up old shelves, building new and my stuff is all over the place in the mean time)

IMG_20141015_214439_zpsm8acdbvi.jpg

Schrader hose reel, can't find any others on google so i hope all the parts are tough. It will get cleaned up and repainted.

IMG_20141015_214418_zpsrde4jyqn.jpg

Dayton 1\4 hp pedistal fan 10 bucks

IMG_20141015_214232_zpsgreoqkaf.jpg

He sold me 4 tanks 3 oxygen and one big acetylene with cart and two stage regulators for 50. I haven't checked the tanks for pressure but they are low/empty judging by the weight. I should get trade in credit for them when it comes time to refill.

IMG_20141015_214323_zps3v35miwl.jpg
the cart is a burdett oxygen from Cleveland, or at least the tires are. Tires are solid and weigh more than the cart body. Can anyone date the cart?

IMG_20141015_214701_zpsdsdybqlg.jpg
multi stage Harris regulators which get pricy new.

IMG_20141015_214615_zpshtqxnbhg.jpg
he told me if I could fit all the above in my Camry then he would throw in this aluminum box free. It has the strangest latches i ve ever seen not sure what is was for but its air tight and pretty cool. It should clean up nicely

I'm not sure what is more impressive, the great stuff you got, or the fact that you fit that all in a Camry. Respect.

Picked these up at the pawn shop yesterday. A Baldor model 333B buffer and NIB 80's vintage Craftsman scroll saw. Just in time for a small wood-working project that I've been procrastinating on.

I don't care how much you paid for that Baldor.

You **** !

That thing will run forever. Is that an extension that's been added to the shaft , or is it the factory length ? I can't tell from the photo.

Never mind , saw your other thread on the extension!

Love the wheels on that welding torch cart. Too skinny for outside in gravel, but real nice on concrete shop floor. Gotta be quite old?

Picked up this yesterday. Snap-On KLA top and Craftsman bottom. $40 for both. The top was bolted on with two bolts to line up the fronts of the drawers, I think I'm going to unbolt and just set the Snap-On on top towards the back. Anyone have good ideas for adding wheels to the lower cabinet? Didn't have any.

Also picked up a corded 1/2 Craftsman impact wrench for $20.

I thought I was doing pretty good this morning but now that I've seen the other posts about welding carts, I don't feel the same way amymore:lol:

I found this real small torch setup this morning, complete with victor regulators and all of the gas welding goodies in the storage box attached to the cart for 35.00

It's really tiny but should be great for limited home use when I ned to get a bolt unstuck on a vise

Does the bench grinder remind any one else of the movie "Gladiator" where they have the chariot hub extensions?? Just thought of that:bounce: but seriously sweet score! Also did you pick up the proto body hammer in the picture recently or are you the guy that got all those hammers and dollies a while back for $80??

You should be able to get a wheel set from sears that will fit the cabinet. get the no.off the sears box get on line to sears parts direct. There should be wheels there. Hope that helps, holes for wheels should be in cabinet allready.

You got a good deal on that torch set. I've tried multiple times to buy similar ones at auction but they always go over $100. Good score.

No friday sales for me this week. :(
6 planned stops this morning, unfortunately I read one wrong and it isn't until tomorrow. (another return trip to a honey hole from the last two weeks)

The second stop yielded a nice little prize (pics 1-3). The other stops were disappointing, but I managed to find at least 1 item at each (pic 4). On the way home I found a TOO where I picked up a chair for my 18mo nephew so he has his own seat in the mancave. My total for the day was $14.

Pics 1-3 - $2
a Husky display Jack (it's funtional ! :bounce:)
(that's a 14lb vice it's holding up)

Pic 4 - $7
19' of 14/3 SJ cable (the plug and box are rusted, but the cable will be good for re-cording tools/motors)
Veritas (made in England) 1/16" - 1/8" edge gouge
Veritas (made in England) 3/16" - 1/4" edge gouge
SnapOn # SSD46 screwdriver (w/ rounded tip)
Walworth/Stillson 10" pipe wrench (now I only need to find a 36" and 48" to complete the set)

Pic 5 - $5
a little cushioned rocking chair for my nephew so he can watch the games in the mancave with his dad in his own chair. (priceless :D)

Mavawreck, you get a u-**** for the Hollands swivel jaw vise! What's the jaw width?

Thanks! Its just a lil guy, haven't measured it but looks to be in the 3" range. Has "612" cast into the side but I haven't found any references to it. Lead screw is not exposed which seems uncommon for a vise this small.

I havent had much luck lately with finding anything I wanted at G-sales as of late. Today my lucked changed I paid $85 for everything here. The ratchet wrenches are Gearwrench and the 1/2" breaker bar is Craftsman and the torque wrench is Mato, everything else is Snap-On. The radios look to be NOS. The longer Snap-On extension has a date code of 1938. The 1/4 drive ratchet has a date code for 1951.

I knew the season would be winding down, and sure enough, sales are further and fewer between. A co-worker told me about this huge, fantastic sale that I just HAD to check out. So I made it stop #1 this morning. Mostly not my kind of stuff. But I did find a few things in the basement. Paid $13 for this stuff to ensure I wouldn't end the day empty-handed:

That's a Williams S-50 ratchet with the push-through drive lug, a tour through Blackhawk history in sockets, and a Blackhawk single offset box end wrench (both sides are 9/16").

The second stop was just a few miles away, and I got there early enough to have to wait in my car. I came very, very close to leaving and hitting another sale on the list a couple of times. But I stuck it out. Got in at 10 and found the tools in the basement. 100% cheap imported junk. Left empty-handed. Third stop was a bit further. Promised a "workshop full of tools." It wasn't. I had one more stop that I was kind of holding in reserve. It didn't sound very promising, but I was nearby and hoping to salvage the morning. I found something non-tool related indoors, paid, and hit up the detached garage. There was a roller tool box in the corner with a sign that read "Box and Tools, $200." The box was an inexpensive homeowner model, and there certainly weren't $200 of tools inside. I asked the lady working the sale if she'd sell individual pieces out of the box. She agreed, but would have to price everything. I picked out a few things, set them on the table, and she put her foot down: $15. I found $8 of other stuff in the garage, and left happy. It may not be the mother lode or the world's greatest deal, but I think it made the trip worthwhile:

That's a Heathkit Vacuum Tube Voltmeter, an SK torque wrench, partial Williams ignition wrench set, Craftsman impact driver in Crown pouch, SO battery pliers, Millers Falls Buck Rogers Push Drill, Indestro Super slip-joints, Williams DOE in black oxide, and an Indestro combo.

Hope everyone has better days than I did!

30lb jug of 134A. According to the writing on it it still has 27lbs left in it.
Guy has a sealed 30lb jug of R12 but I have no use for it.

I paid $40 for everything!

You might want to go back for the R12 and I mean right now. Look what it sells for on ebay. It's north of 300.00 for a tank that size:shocking:

He knows the value of the R12 and is asking a lot for it. He would not give me a price but said that it was extremely valuable to him. I will see if the sale is open tomorrow and try to negotiate with him. He has a lot of classic cars so im surprised he isnt keeping it.

3 Flea Markets, 2 Yard Sales, and a haircut this morning... all before noon! lol. Spent $100 total including the cut, made out fairly well.

10 Drawer Park Machinist box! I've never seen a 10-drawer before! About 1/2 filled with tools too, $35!

Lamp is an ACME, and still works!

$5!

3 for $10 crusty planes, one says No 6, another says Bailey, and the small one... nothing.

Don't recognize the name on this one... but it's nice.

Sack O Wrenches, sockets, and a Proto LA rat in there... I'll snap pics later of all the goodies.
