Cleaned on a C111 Hunter alignment machine I picked up over the weekend for a $1, It's in mint shape and everything works. The turn table and camber plates are in great shape also. I can't tell you how many alignments I have done on a machine like this back in the 80's, hundreds and hundreds.

Switching over from woodworking to motorcycles now for a bit. Needs a complete overhaul this winter. Daily riding and track riding means it needs a lot of maintenance. Going to strip it down completely, but I need to have it all back together in 2 weeks to go back to commuting again.

It arrived in my shop March 7, 2011 ... and shortly afterwards his circumstances changed, work on his Duster came to a standstill, and it's been rusting in the shop ever since waiting on the Go Ahead.

Three and a half years and an enjoyable half hour phone call later spent catching up, it finally got coated tonight.

It's still cooling off but the pictures won't be very impressive. Underneath all that grunge are without a doubt the ugliest k-member welds known to mankind -- there's probably enough slag on it to cast a whole 'nuther cradle out of. This is one of the better areas ...



Its owner is a bit of a purist so the car is going back together freshened but just as it came from the factory ... so there was no deburring or metal mistressing on this stuff at all. And I don't mind one bit on this job either. He's a great guy, his kids are totally involved in the build, and in just a few days when it ships to SoCal I won't have to look at it, trip over it, or move it to clean the shop anymore. Ever.

Got all the wiring and hardware done on the laser cutter upgrade. It took a lot of fiddling, checking connections, remaking some of the cabling and scratching my head over bad instructions, but in the end I had the X and Y stepper motors working correctly, limit switches happy, and the controller was able to work with the setup. The laser lense is out of focus with a wide beam so I need to determine the correct focal depth. Oh, and quit futzing with the unit and actually READ the instructions on this part of the setup so I can figure out the on board menu system and the software. At least at this point I know the hardware works.

So far I can tell the machine is many times faster and more powerful with the same laser tube, meaning it was really held back with the prior setup.

A guy I know bought one recently and reckons its absolutely brutal when you step on it but actually fairly easy to drive around town, he's already started modding it! He reckons its faster than his previous heavily modified Skyline. This is the car that olympic cyclist Sir Will Hoy is now racing (and binned at the Goodwood festival of speed!)

Do you own a hand plane? That would have been flattened in considerably less time. They only cost $20 or $30 for an old Stanley #5 and can be tuned up quickly to be great users.

Put the spare tire carrier in the Corvette. Tried to install the rear valence. Take the spare tire carrier off, then install the rear valence and after install the tire carrier again.

Went up to the new house lot to find that they started digging.

It was a cool, cloudy, windy, and rainy day outside today so I spent some time in the garage and took a picture among other things. Had the indoor temperature up to 72 which was more comfortable than the 53 degrees outside.

I confirmed appointment to have new garage doors installed on Wed of next week. Not really looking forward to spending the $1,200 but it will be nice when it's done, especially with winter on the way.

Also took some measurements to play around with some rearranging ideas I've been thinking about.

They are both indoor cats, so they are only allowed out when the garage door is closed and the garage is mostly clean. They still managed to get covered in sawdust that I apparently missed.

I inherited a 2002 Accord from my mother, its in decent shape, however for 2 weeks its been plaguing me with electrical issues. It all started with the dash lights flickering and the car shutting off. I replaced the alternator, but then realized the battery was 4 years old. Still was getting low voltage at 2000 rpm. I hooked up the multi-meter and read around 12.4 volts. I was seriously frustrated, however I did something dumb and didn't KISS (keep it simple stupid) the situation. I traced the negative battery cable and spotted this!

I don't know if honda left this unwrapped on purpose or some tech took off the electrical tape for some reason, but damn it was right there. The copper was filthy and seemed to be loosing its "coil". After replacing with some new 2 gauge copper wire. I am getting 14.4 @ 2000 rpm with headlights on with the heater at full blast.

However, for some reason honda has some stupid ELD which cuts off voltage when battery reaches 12.6, its to save MPG. When all accessories are turned on it reads around 11.6 volts at idle. It seems to be a very common issues for hondas. It dims the headlights at a stop. I have only really touched domestic vehicles since this one. So it through me for a loop!

I've got some tools that need de-rusting, so I picked up some Evapo-Rust from Harbor Freight.

What you see there is a Snap On breaker bar with a Craftsman socket and short extension. They unfortunately were in my trunk after spilling some battery acid in there. I feel really bad about that, but maybe they can be saved. The file/rasp (Made in USA) I bought for $2 at a garage sale. Also a pair of snips that I got with a bunch of other things at a garage sale for next to nothing. The mallet was also a victim of the battery acid.

We'll see what they look like tomorrow. If it works well, I think I'll get a PVC pipe long enough for the breaker bar, add an end cap, then put everything in that.

My DIY black iron pipe furniture for my bedroom. Really happy with ow it turned out. Needed a rustic look with metal. I just used whitewood from lowes and "distressed" it myself. Best part about it is they can be easily disassembled and altered.

Well started cleaning out the garage. Years of being the catchall for the house almost rendered it a half car garage rather than the 3 car it is. While taking a break from all the cleaning I decided to make my wrenchs a little easier to ready. Convinced the lovely wife to go to the store for me and 30 mins later I have black blue and red nail polish. A coupe of hours later this is the result.
