My work threw one of those away about a year ago. Absolutely nothing wrong with it but we just didn't use it. I couldn't believe it, wish I had the space/need for it because it would be in my garage now.

Yep, I've seen a fair amount of shops that have them, but they are all in a corner and look like they haven't been used in decades.

It's funny you say that all these never get used,
We have 2 in our workshop that almost always have jobs set up on them, one 48" and one 60".

We have a 48 in our shop, worked until SOMEONE ran the head all the way to the end of it's travel, got it jammed, and broke a few castings in the process. It'll end up pushed into our solids dumpster one day, but not before I remove all the old USN/Army Air Corps/USAF tags that have been riveted to it over the years.

Yep, ran one just like that at Insituform but it had the integrated table on the column; table would rotate too. The table was basically as big as the footprint of the base.

We always had something set up on it. Nice machine, I enjoyed using it but the spindle taper was f'd and tooling would just drop out of it from time to time

Ours would drop tools too! She had a way of keeping things interesting.

That brings back lots of memories; we had three at my first shop I worked at; one was about half that size, one like in the picture except with a 90 degree base and tables. It got the most use. And another much larger. Awesome machines
