I had a Reznor 45,000 BTU gas fired heater installed in the garage last November. The walls and ceiling were all still open at that time so I only ran the thing a few times while working before the weather got too cold and running it at all was futile. So it sat for 11 months.

Fast forward to yesterday. Everything now insulated (except ceiling) and boarded. So I go to fire up the heater aaaaaand nothin'. I confirmed that there is power going into the unit, but neither of the two lights on the circuit board are illuminated. I've checked all the connections are tight, but nothing was touched inside the unit at all. I did happen to leave the side cover off for several months, after looking for the source of a rattle; didn't think anything of it though.

Anyone know what to check or how to diagnose? There was no power to the unit for a few months this summer while I insulated and hung drywall. Not sure if that's relevant.

If the doors are still off there may be a door switch that needs to be made to give the boards power. Check for those or reinstall all of the covers and try again. I'm betting something simple.

The UDAS model with separate combustion does have door switches, but my UDAP model does not.

Decided to call the gas guy this morning. I've still got a few days (literally) of parts warranty, so I have to be expedient. Plus..... Winter is coming. :tantrum2:

Sounds like you don't have any secondary voltage 24volts... Look and see if there's any fuses they usually use and automotive style fuse. Ignition controls are powered with the low voltage so no lights is usually an indication of either no power or a bad board. You could have a bad fuse or a bad transformer

Thanks! I checked the fuse and it looked like new. I don't own a multimeter so I can't verify voltages unfortunately. Sounds like this is somewhat of a common problem (replacing boards), but usually not this early in its life? Hopefully find out later today what the issue is.

Reznor is one of best brands with good warranty so I'd bet company will stand behind their product. Good luck with getting it running again.

Verdict is in! I need to buy a multimeter.

I had a bad neutral connection in my circuit. Couldn't tell with my non-contact tester. Guy hooked up his multimeter and saw it instantly. Bah. Glad it wasn't the heater though - just an oops on my part.
