Same as the Harbor Freight torque wrenches, but with a black handle. $11.99 or so with coupon.

Except for the extra long one (24340). HF doesn't carry that one.

These are not the same as HF. I have both and they are quite different. The Tekton one is built much better. Not sure if it is any more accurate but they are not the same.

Can you expand on this. The Tektons look very, very similar to the HF units.

I had the HF one. Was built like ****. You had to be the hulk to adjust it's setting. Just was not even worth the $10. Maybe I got a bad one. Wasn't going to take anther chance so I returned it. Looking for something little better but not going to spend an arm and a leg. Don't use it much. Most of its use will be to tq down wheels.

Maybe I should look into this one...

You need to adjust the screw on the bottom if you're making a significant adjustment of the torque spec and the handle binds up.

For example, I properly store my torque wrenches at the lowest setting. If I grab my HF torque wrench and try to adjust it all the way from 20 ft-lbs to 100 ft-lbs, I'll need to stop and adjust the locking screw on the bottom at least once as I turn up the torque wrench.

When they get difficult to turn, that means you need to adjust the screw on the bottom. That's been my experience, at least.

It' not the best torque wrench in the world. It's not nearly as nice as my Armstrong or CDI torque wrenches. But the HF torque wrench works fine and is a mega-bargain. I use mine mainly for wheels and suspension components and I've had it for more than 5 years.

I tryed everything. I spent 2hrs trying to figure it out. I think it was just messed up. When I would adjust it you would hear and feel scraping and noise the screw was always lose so I don't think that was a problem but it would also jam at times when you would turn it either way. It was just a mess. I honestly wish it would worked out better bc for my needs it been fine but I just don't trust it nor want a tool that fucked up. I rather spend little more just to get something that runs smooth. I have a husky 1/4in one I bought about 13 years ago give or take. That thing is very very well built and runs like butter. Doesn't have that stupid locking screw either which I'm not a fan of.

The Tekton I have is the 1/2" 25-250 lb unit (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C5ZL1NS/?tag=atomicindus08-20) so maybe is not a fair comparison. I also have the HF 1/2", 3/8 and 1/4" units. The one I have is similar to the HF 1/2" but the material and/or finish is different and looks to be higher quality. The action on the setting is also much better. Also the one I have has a flattend shaft design rather than the round shaft. The HF units are a hell of a deal and I use them all the time. I got the Tekton as I needed to go up to 250 ft/lbs and the only HF unit that does this was the 3/4" and was more than what the Tekton costs.
